Due to a rule in Virginia that bans them from doing so without the approval of a parent, the police have not disclosed the names of the minors who were killed in the accident, nor have they disclosed their ages. Sgt. Jim Curry verified that all three victims were young women in their late teens and that they were all underage.

All three victims were female. The investigation revealed that the detectives believed that speed, and not alcohol, was a factor in the tragedy. This is the second deadly collision that has taken place in Fairfax County so far in 2018.
