5 Dead and Suspect Killed In 'Horrendous' Condo Shooting Outside Toronto

After a shooting on Sunday night at a condominium just outside of Toronto, six people, including the suspect, are dead. According to a news release from York Regional Police, police were summoned to a residential building in Vaughan, to the north of Toronto, at around 7:20 p.m. ET Sunday for reports of an active shooter who had shot many persons.

According to police, at least five victims were killed, and a sixth was brought to a hospital in critical condition. According to police, the suspect, who has only been described as a man, was slain during an “incident” with them. It said that the Special Investigations Unit of Ontario, which looks into situations involving police that result in fatalities or serious injuries, has been informed.

At a press conference, York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween called the situation “horrendous.” We extend our profound sympathies to the victims and their families, he said in a separate statement. What transpired before the shooting and any potential motive were not immediately apparent.
