A Kidnapper Used Grindr to Target Gay Men to Kill and Dismember Them
On Thursday, a guy pled guilty to abduction after kidnapping a gay man he met on Grindr and Snapchat in a plot to murder and dismember him. According to the plea agreement in the case, the kidnapper, Chance Seneca, met his intended victim in Louisiana in June 2020. Seneca allegedly convinced the victim, identified in court filings as “H.W.,” to put on shackles for sex, then strangled him with a belt until he went out.
According to the plea deal, Seneca then put H.W. in a bathtub, stripped him nude, struck him with a hammer, stabbed him in the neck with an ice pick, and slashed his wrists with a knife. According to the agreement, Seneca was attempting to “satisfy his murderous inclinations.”
According to the plea agreement, Seneca intended to dismember H.W. Instead, he dialed 911 and informed the dispatcher that he had strangled someone. Seneca was apprehended by authorities, who learned that he originally intended to keep H.W.’s body parts.
According to the plea agreement, H.W. was not the first gay male Seneca stated he intended to murder. Seneca allegedly used Grindr and Snapchat the day before meeting up with H.W. to seduce another gay male, but afterward changed his mind and let him go.
According to the plea agreement, Seneca “intended to continue murdering until he was captured or killed.” “I’ve never actually wanted to injure… ladies,” Seneca told police. “Most of them are men.” H.W. survived Seneca’s attack but was in a coma for three days. His wrist tendons had been torn and severed, and he suffered irreversible nerve damage in one hand.
Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke called Seneca’s conduct “shocking” in a statement. Clarke stated, “The internet should be accessible and safe for all Americans, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.” “The Department of Justice will continue to identify and hold accountable anybody who uses internet forums to terrify or mistreat others.” Seneca, who is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2023, faces life in jail. If a judge ruled that he targeted H.W. because of his gender or sexual orientation, he could face additional penalties.
