According to a police department in Missouri, a 30-year-old substitute teacher raped and threatened to kill one of the students he met at the school where he worked. The youngster was warned not to tell anybody about the incident. The man has been detained on suspicion of having committed statutory rape, and the authorities suspect there may be further victims.

According to a press statement issued by the St. Louis County Police Department on September 19, Brandon Holbrook met the youngster, who was 14 years old, at Bernard Middle School in the city of St. Louis. “Through the investigation, Holbrook engaged in sexual contact with the victim and made veiled threats if the victim disclosed the information,” the police said. “The investigation also revealed that Holbrook threatened the victim if the victim disclosed the information.”

According to a statement that Superintendent Chris Gaines addressed to families in the district, the Mehlville School District was made aware of the situation after a friend of the kid relayed their concerns to a counselor working for the community.

According to what he stated, the administrators at the facility moved swiftly and reported the incident to the Division of Children’s Services, as well as alerted the police. On September 12, Holbrook’s spot on the district roster was marked as “inactive.” According to what Gaines had to say about the matter, “We are profoundly worried by any complaint suggesting that an employee may have participated in inappropriate behavior.”

“Our schools are places where kids should always feel secure, and we take any complaint of staff misconduct extremely seriously.” “Our schools are places where students should always feel safe.” According to the letter, the substitute worked at district schools between February 2021 and May 2022. Before his employment, he was subjected to an “extensive background check,” a requirement for the position.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office has filed rape charges against Holbrook, and he is now being detained on a cash-only bail of $500,000 connected to these allegations. Officials from the district have stated that he is being charged with “three counts of statutory rape second degree and six counts of statutory sodomy second degree.”

According to the authorities, he worked as a substitute teacher for schools in the Mehlville School District and schools in other districts in the surrounding region. As of September 19, the investigators did not know for which other districts he could have worked previously.
