Abakar Kazbekov, a London Knights Hockey Player, Died at the Age of 18

On Saturday morning, London Knights player Abakar Kazbekov died after falling to his death from an apartment building in the downtown area of London.  Abakar Kazbekov, a forward with the London Knights, tragically passed away early Saturday morning after falling from an apartment block in the heart of London.

At 8:20 in the morning, officers from the London Police Service were called and told that a body had been found on a sidewalk at the intersection of Dufferin Avenue and Talbot Street. Kazbekov’s body had been there for some time.

When the cops got to the scene, he was already dead when they found him. The Major Crime Section has stated that they are currently looking into the matter, but they do not believe that there was any foul play involved.

The game between the Knights and the Flint Firebirds, which was supposed to take place on Saturday but was postponed due to the weather, is one of the four Ontario Hockey League contests that have been canceled so far.

According to a statement released by the Knights in 2021, “Abakar has been a valuable component of the team since that year.” “Please know that his family, friends, and teammates are in our thoughts.” In remembrance of the 18-year-old athlete, the Knights and the other players who played with Kazbekov altered their social media profile images to feature the player’s jersey number, 15.

In a statement, OHL Commissioner David Branch expressed his sorrow over the passing of London Knights player Abakar Kazbekov, saying, “Today I join the whole OHL community in mourning the sad loss of Abakar Kazbekov.” Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends in Russia, as well as to his teammates, billets, and friends in this country of Canada.

The forward, who was born in Moscow and played for the youth team Vityaz Podolski, relocated to Canada during the 2019-2020 season in order to participate in prep school hockey. After that, he was chosen first overall in the OHL’s 2021 Under-18 Priority Selection draught and struggled with injuries while playing for the team, but he still managed to record two points over the course of 21 games.
