According to an Iowa Poll, Chuck Grassley Has a “Seemingly Insurmountable” Lead Over Mike Franken
Democrat candidate and former Navy Adm. Mike Franken are trailing Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley in the Iowa U.S. Senate election, according to a recent survey. According to the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa survey, which was conducted by Selzer & Co. between October 31 and November 3, among Iowans who have either already voted or indicate they plan to vote, Grassley is ahead of Franken 53% to 41%. The poll had a 3.5 percentage point margin of error.
Of the 801 likely voters surveyed, 3% said they would vote for a different candidate, 2% are unsure, and 1% did not cast a ballot. According to J. Ann Selzer, president of Selzer & Co., Grassley is far ahead of Franken in the polls.

Selzer remarked, “It’s a lead that seems insurmountable, but anything can happen. “This poll is excellent for Chuck Grassley. He not only takes the initiative generally but also has the staunch backing of his base. In contrast, Franken’s supporters are less enthusiastic.”
