On Thursday, two communities on Long Island are in a state of mourning as a result of a single-car accident that resulted in the deaths of three high school students. On Wednesday night, it occurred in Holtsville, which was also the driver’s hometown. The authorities said that he was only 16 years old at the time and that he had a learner’s permit.

In response to the tragic news that two seniors had been killed in the accident, the flags at William Floyd High School were lowered. They were riding in the vehicle with the teenager who did not have a driver’s license behind the wheel.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, the passengers were a 17-year-old from Moriches named Taylor Beltramini and an 18-year-old from Mastic named Landon Auditore. In January, Beltramini was scheduled to get her diploma from Floyd Academy.

Cem Gunes, who was only 16 years old at the time, was recognized as the driver. According to the police, he was operating a vehicle without the legally required licensed driver who was at least 21 years old. During what the authorities described as a horrible event, witnesses attempted to render assistance.

“It’s an awful situation. We’re all parents. Everyone has kids, and many of them are still young but can drive. It’s a terrible situation, “the Inspector, Darrel Simmons, was quoted as saying. The driver of the car reportedly lost control of the vehicle at approximately 9:43 p.m. while traveling north on Nicholls Road, and the vehicle subsequently collided with a tree just north of the Long Island Expressway. Both the driver and one passenger managed to escape the vehicle.

“We have witness reports that the 2009 Infinity G37 color grey was heading northbound on Nicholls Road at a high rate of speed,” said Simmons. “The vehicle was moving at an extremely high rate of speed.” “The vehicle was said to have flipped over a number of times,” according to the report.

During this difficult time, members of the families of all three teenagers have requested privacy. Adrianna Barrington has stated that she had a relationship with Gunes. Barrington remarked that “He really did have a kind heart.” “I had a lot of love for him.”

Counselors for those dealing with grief were available at Sachem East and William Floyd, both of which held a moment of silence. A student at William Floyd High School named Ronnie Hurtado reported that “the tone simply transformed quickly,” and that “it was obviously painful for everyone to hear that.”

“They were just generally good children. So it’s really sad to see, “remarked yet another student. Students there are still trying to come to terms with the deaths of three other classmates who were killed in a car accident in September.

“The atmosphere at school is quite disheartening and miserable. It’s just been kids being slaughtered, over and again, “according to Nahjae Hollman, who is a senior at William Floyd High School. A lot of the details surrounding the accident are still being looked into, such as what caused it, where the teenagers came from, and where they were headed. Additional witnesses are being asked to come forward by the Suffolk Police Department.
