After a Domestic Dispute Results in a Shooting, a Buford Woman is Killed and Her Husband is Critically Injured

According to Gwinnett County authorities, a woman from Buford died on Sunday after her husband allegedly shot her before turning the pistol on himself while the child was there. Michael and Desiree Marin, both 44, allegedly got into a fight on Sunday morning at a house at 2605 Ivy Stone Trail, according to Cpl. William Wolfe. After an argument with his wife at around 10 a.m., Michael is suspected of shooting his wife and then killing himself.

A school-aged child was present in the house at the time of the occurrence, but he or she suffered no physical injuries, according to Wolfe. Despite being brought to a hospital, Desiree Marin passed away from her injuries. But as of Sunday afternoon, Michael Marin was in critical condition.

The Homicide Unit of the Gwinnett County Police Department is conducting an investigation along with the Crime Scene Investigation Units of the agency. Detectives may be reached at 770-513-5300, and anyone with information on the incident is urged to call them.
