Lane Kiffin: Tells Deion Sanders to Stop Bothering Nick Saban After Alabama Football Coach’s Jackson State Comment!

Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin quickly defended Alabama’s Nick Saban on Twitter Thursday morning, telling Jackson State’s Deion Sanders to “lay off” the “G.O.A.T.” after Saban and Sanders got into a fight about NIL. Saban said at an event in Birmingham, Alabama, on Wednesday night that Texas A&M “bought every player on their team” and Jackson State “paid a guy a million dollars.”

“Stop with the (goat emoji),” Kiffin wrote to Sanders, adding a crying laughing emoji at the end.

Saban signed the No. 2 recruiting class for the 2022 season. He brought up Texas A&M as an example of how it was able to sign the top class.

Saban said, “I know the consequences will be hard for the people who spend a lot of money to get players.” “You’ve heard about it and know who did it. Last year, we were second in recruiting. First was A&M. A&M bought all of their players. Made a deal for name, likeness, and image.

“We didn’t buy just one person. Aight? But I’m not sure if we’ll be able to keep doing that because more and more people are doing it. It’s hard.”

Saban talked about Jackson State as well.

Saban: “Right now, we have a rule that says you can’t use a player’s name, image, or likeness to get them to come to your school.” “Hell, I read about it in the paper. I mean, Jackson State paid a really good Division I player a million dollars to come to school last year. It was written about in the paper, and they were proud of it. Nothing was done about it.”

When Hunter switched from Florida State to Jackson State in the middle of December, the leader of Jackson State quickly put an end to that idea.

Sanders said, “We don’t have any money.” “One and a half million? I heard 1.5 million and Dave Portnoy from the band Barstool. I’ve never heard a bigger lie than that. You’re sure of that? That means we gave you the boot. We took what was rightfully ours, so now you have to come up with a reason why. No one is getting a million and a half dollars. I wouldn’t give a million and a half NIL to my son. How can I coach someone who makes more than me?”

Since coming to Jackson State, Sanders has been able to find good players to join the team. In the 2021 cycle, he signed four four-star recruits, including his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and wide receiver Trevon Rucker, who switched his commitment from Florida to Jackson State. Last season, the Tigers also signed KaTron Evans, who had been committed to Tennessee. He also signed wide receiver Kevin Coleman in 2022. In the 247Sports Composite rankings, Coleman was just outside of the top 50.
