Andrey Rublev vs. J.J. Wolf in ATP Washington quarterfinals!

Andrey Rublev vs. J.J. Wolf

Andrey Rublev vs. J.J. Wolf

In Washington, only eight men are left to play for the ATP trophy. There are still top seeds and up-and-coming players in the draw, so it should be an exciting day of tennis. As always, LWOT gives you a preview of all four games and a prediction for each one.

ATP Washington Quarterfinal Predictions

Daniel Evans vs Yoshihito Nishioka

Head to head – Nishioka 4-0 Evans

Daniel Evans doesn’t like to face a certain part of Yoshihito Nishioka’s game. The Brit is 0-4 against the Japanese, and Evans’ single-handed style has trouble with the lefty’s top-spin-heavy forehand. Both players have had average seasons so far in 2022, and this tournament is the last chance for each of them to save their seasons.

Even though Taylor Fritz gave Evans a walkover in the Round of 16, Nishioka’s run so far has been pretty impressive. With Alex de Minaur and Karen Khachanov, the Japanese have beaten two strong opponents in a row. Overall, it looks like the tough Nishioka will win again.

Frances Tiafoe vs Nick Kyrgios

Head to head – First Meeting

Frances Tiafoe did well in Atlanta last week and is now doing well in Washington, D.C. Nick Kyrgios, on the other hand, will give the American his hardest test so far.

The Australian seems to be playing as well as he did at Wimbledon, which is good to see. Kyrgios has the better serve and backhand on the court, and if he can make fewer mistakes with his forehand, he should be the one to move on.

Sebastian Korda vs Mikael Ymer

Head to head – First Meeting

After going out in the first round at Atlanta last week, Sebastian Korda seems to have started to find his groove. He beat the talented Grigor Dimitrov in the third set, which was a one-sided match. This was the hardest test he had faced so far.

He will now play Mikael Ymer, a rising star from Sweden who is still trying to move up on the main tour. Ymer wasn’t in great shape coming into the tournament, but beating Andy Murray seems to have given him a boost of confidence. All in all, the match between these two young players should be very interesting to watch, but it looks like Korda has more power from the baseline and on his serve.

This match should be fun to watch. Andrey Rublev hits hard from both wings, and J.J. Wolf is as determined as they come. Since these two people have never met before, this match is even more interesting. Still, the results of their seasons so far have been different.

Rublev is having a great season. He has already won three titles, and his favourite part of the season is just getting started. Wolf, on the other hand, came into this tournament with a record of 4-4, but he is looking dangerous this week. Wolf will probably win a set, but Rublev should be reliable enough to win the match.
