The long-running manga Berserk, which wedded fantasy and, well, violence, is making its way back to the small screen in some form. According to ComicBook.com, the original anime series, which aired in 1997 and consisted of 25 episodes and was based on the manga and directed by Naohito Takahashi, will be available on Netflix on December 1 for select countries.

It appears that the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Canada will not be included in this, at least not on the debut date of December 1st. The following trailer for the anime adaptation of the manga Berserk, which was released about eight years after the manga’s initial publication in Young Animal magazine, makes it quite clear that Berserk is a very dark and violent show.

The story follows the events that took place during the so-called Golden Age Arc, which takes place at the time when Guts became a member of the Band of the Hawk and met the two other key characters, Griffith and Casca. It is reported to have inspired or impacted major anime hits such as Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack on Titan, and some fans consider it to be the best adaptation of the manga.
The first episode of Berserk, which aired in 1997, is going to be available on Netflix in December. When it was reported that the streaming service had won the rights to that brand, along with Parasyte, Monster, and other classic anime, it seemed as though the release of Berserk material from Netflix was a fait accompli.
In addition, according to a countdown clock that was just added to the official website for Berserk, additional content may also be forthcoming very soon. The countdown clock is now set to a date in the middle of December.
