David Beckham's Tattoos

David Beckham has always used his physical looks to convey himself. Over the years, we’ve seen the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and England midfielder rock a variety of hairstyles, wear questionable clothing and experiment with the length of his facial hair.

Away from the football field, he is also noted for the number of tattoos that adorn his body. Beckham’s neck and head tattoos. The most well-known of the former England captain’s body ink is on the back of his neck, where a Gothic-style outline of a cross with wings is inked above the name of his son, Romeo.

Beckham also has his daughter Harper’s name tattooed on his neck, which he later adorned with the words ‘Pretty Lady’ on her fourth birthday. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder has tattooed the words ‘Dadda’ and ‘Buster,’ as well as a piece commemorating his connection with his eldest son, Brooklyn, on his neck.

Beckham now has a rose above the aforementioned ‘Pretty Lady’ tattoo on the left of his neck, and a horse’s head below ‘Buster’ on the right, an homage to his wife, Victoria. He also has a flock of birds rising towards his left ear, which has a black heart carved on it, and a representation of the solar system that is frequently obscured by his hair.

Beckham has a tattoo of an angel and two cherubs with the words ‘In the face of hardship’ on his right shoulder. This was done a month after the star’s former personal assistant Rebecca Loos claimed she had an affair with him.

A cloud filler sits beneath the angel, with another angel beneath that. Beckham also has the motto ‘Let them hate as long as they fear’ tattooed on his arm, which is associated with former Roman Emperor Caligula. On the same arm, he has the words ‘Pray for me,’ and on his wrist, he has a hummingbird and the name of his wife, Victoria.

Beckham’s piece is inspired by Cupid and Psyche and is based on a 15th-century picture by Francesco Francia. Beckham also has another rose tattoo, this one commemorating his tenth anniversary with his wife, Victoria, and a lower-body depiction of her.

Another tribute to Victoria is the inking of her name in Sanskrit along the inside of his forearm, albeit it has now been uncovered that it really translates as ‘Victoria.’ The couple also has Hebrew tattoos, which they received to commemorate their sixth wedding anniversary. This means ‘I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.’

Beckham added a big chest piece to his collection in 2011. He chose a self-portrait of Jesus, with three cherubs representing his boys, Brooklyn, Romeo, and Cruz. “It’s Jesus being carried by three cherubs, and obviously the cherubs are my boys, so my thought is that at some point my boys will need to look after me, and that’s what they’re doing in the painting,” Beckham previously stated. “It means a lot to me.”

On the other side, there is an image of a lady surrounded by a forest, although the meaning of this piece is unknown. Beckham has a Chinese sign tattoo along his left side that says, “Death and life have determined appointments.” Heaven determines wealth and glory.” He also has a dedication to his mother and father, as well as the words ‘We Love You, Daddy.’

Under his right armpit, he has another piece devoted to his father, a ship at the full mast – the same piece that his father has tattooed. Another religious element, a bible script on his ribcage, is located slightly below the ship. Beckham’s design features an eagle in flight with the head of an Indian chief.

Beckham’s left hand has the word ‘Love’ written in bold characters over the top, with a swallow on either side. He also has the words ‘Lead with love and the digits ‘723’, which is a combination of his famous shirt numbers seven and twenty-three. The word seven is inscribed on his index finger, the number ‘7’ on his little finger, and a rose on his ring finger.
