In a judgment connected to a years-long court struggle between Diplo and a former fling named Shelly Auguste, an arbitrator awarded Diplo $1.2 million dollars. Auguste’s lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. “We are all very happy for Wes and his family,” Diplo’s attorney Bryan Freedman said. “What happened here is straightforward. The arbitrator considered all of the facts. She assessed the evidence objectively. And justice triumphed.”
“A win for me and my family today,” Pentz tweeted with a link to the story on Wednesday (Sept. 21). Since 2019, the duo has filed a series of lawsuits against one other, with Auguste originally stating that Pentz was seeking to disseminate revenge pornography against her, and then Pentz launching a suit alleging revenge pornography, stalking, and trespassing. A pair of legal cases relating to Pentz and Auguste’s multiple litigations is still pending.
In March, Diplo told Billboard, “I’m clearly going to win that [case].” “However, I don’t believe it had any effect.” If I had sought to schedule a performance, some places would have said, ‘Uh, I don’t like this story,’ but everyone who knows me supported me. ‘This is our guy,’ they say. I’m lucky to have had a team of folks who just knew me for who I am.”
