On Friday morning, racial remarks made by former president Donald Trump were directed at Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin. They were posted on his Truth Social website. Youngkin’s name, according to Trump, “sounds Chinese,” and he believes Youngkin is a member of the Republican establishment who wants to exclude the former president from the party.
He boasted, “In Virginia, [Youngkin] couldn’t have won without me.” In order for him to have a chance of winning, “I Endorsed him, did a very big Trump Rally for him over the phone, and got MAGA to Vote for him.” Trump added, “But he knows that, and he acknowledges it.
An official for the governor shared Youngkin’s statements in response to the Trump criticism with The Daily Beast on Friday morning. “I don’t call people names; I strive so hard to bring people together. We should band together at this time, he told reporters in Richmond, Virginia. “As a country, we still have some unfinished elections that need to be resolved, and we need to go on.”
From @ZTPetrizzo: “Many of us are afraid of what will happen to them and their loved ones as he re-enters the scene,” said @KulkarniManju of Trump’s racist rhetoric. “Elected officials must hold him to account.” https://t.co/ivV1as6AaL

Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears of Youngkin stated on Thursday that she was unable to support Trump’s bid for the presidency in 2024. Trump’s 2024 Presidential Announcement Shows He’s “Ready for War”. It’s time to move on, she said, adding that we have a clear objective.
Trump has previously launched racial tirades against his opponents in politics. Elaine Chao, a former member of Trump’s cabinet and the wife of Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, has been referred to by Trump as “Coco Chow” on numerous occasions.
The former president charged Chao, who was born in Taiwan, with trying to “become rich in China” in August. This is all part of Trump’s ongoing use of racial tropes, which has encouraged the rise of hate, Manjusha P. Kulkarni, a co-founder of Stop AAPI Hate, told The Daily Beast.
“This and other instances of Trump’s racist comments fuelled one of the most dramatic spikes in anti-AAPI hatred that our community is still struggling from almost three years ago. As he returns to the scene, so many people in our town are terrified of what may happen to them and their loved ones, she said. “And we’re asking other elected officials to stand with us by keeping him accountable,” they continued.
