After the news broke on Monday that senior investigative correspondent Drew Griffin had passed away at the age of 60 following a protracted battle with cancer, colleagues at CNN conveyed their sorrow and condolences to his family and friends.
According to his family, Griffin passed suddenly on Saturday. He was an esteemed investigative reporter who was known for doing important work on a variety of themes. In a statement sent out to CNN employees on Monday, CNN CEO Chris Licht paid respect to both Griffin’s life and career.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Licht stated in the email that “Drew’s passing is a sad loss to CNN and to our whole profession.” “Drew was a highly regarded investigative journalist whose work had a significant impact and perfectly exemplified this organization’s commitment to its objective in every respect.
He was concerned with discovering the truth and keeping those in positions of power accountable. He was relentless, but he never lost his temper. Licht also mentioned that “his work ethic was unrivaled.” “He toiled away for a good portion of the day pouring over paperwork and fielding calls.

Even though he was battling cancer, he refused to give up on the reporting that was so important to him. In fact, he was still working on an investigation right up to the day he passed away. After working as an investigative reporter for CNN Los Angeles for some time beforehand, Griffin started working for CNN in the year 2004.
His long list of achievements includes winning a Peabody Award in 2015 for his investigative reporting on delays at Veterans Affairs facilities that contributed to the deaths of patients and ultimately to the resignation of the VA secretary.
Griffin was recognized for his reporting on a variety of topics, including Hurricane Katrina, allegations of fraud leveled against Trump University, and the aftermath of the incident that took place in the Capitol on January 6. He was the recipient of four Emmy awards.
Griffin was described as “our colleague and friend as well as a longtime respected CNN journalist” by CNN anchor Don Lemon, who broke down in tears when making the announcement of Griffin’s death on the network’s morning show.
As Lemon broke down in tears after hearing the devastating news, his co-anchor, Kaitlin Collins, was there to comfort him. “I am aware of how difficult this is for you. He claimed to be one of the first persons you met when you started working at CNN, said Collins. Drew was an exceptionally talented storyteller.
Twitter was used by a number of other CNN personalities so that they may express their sorrow. “RIP Drew Griffin. Jake Tapper wrote that the news is terrible. “We mourn the loss of a dearly liked coworker. Drew Griffin exemplified all of the qualities that contribute to the greatness of a journalist.
