Four People Were Injured in a Chicago Crash on Cottage Grove Just Days After a Fatal Crash on the Same Street

On the same roadway where a fatal pileup happened just two days earlier, a three-vehicle collision in the Pullman area of Chicago’s South Side injured four individuals. On Friday afternoon, the collision happened at 103rd Street and Cottage Grove Avenue.

According to the police, an SUV being driven by a 75-year-old man collided with another SUV being driven by a 16-year-old girl as she attempted to turn left onto 103rd Street from Cottage Grove. According to authorities, a Ford Escape carrying two women, aged 22 and 24, was also struck. The authorities reported that the two young women inside have terrible injuries, and the front is now nearly nonexistent.

In both SUVs, the airbags deployed, shattering the windows. According to authorities, the 24-year-old lady was taken in critical condition by ambulance to the University of Chicago Hospital. Additionally, the 22-year-old was transported to U of C Hospital in good health.

The 75-year-old motorist was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center with minor injuries and was reported to be in fair condition. The 16-year-old driver was also transported to the University of Chicago in fair condition but suffered minor injuries.

Police reported that the 75-year-old guy received no citations. Just 16 blocks separated the scene of Wednesday night’s terrible crash on Cottage Grove from the location of Friday’s collision. Moments after the collision, cell phone video captured the unrecognizable automobiles in flames.

Police reported that 10 persons were taken to hospitals on Thursday morning in fair to good condition. Another individual received a minor injury but wasn’t taken to the hospital. Police had previously reported 16 injuries.

According to authorities, five children, including a 10-year-old boy, a 6-year-old boy, a 4-year-old girl, and a 10-month-old girl, were taken to hospitals along with three women, three males, and a 15-year-old girl. According to Brown, the Dodge Charger was reported stolen from Markham earlier in the day on Wednesday. The Charger also contained a “long-rifle sort of armament,” Brown continued.

At the scene, Mayor Lori Lightfoot halted and urged people to proceed more slowly. “We have some influence over this. Simply let off the throttle and drive within the posted speed restrictions “said the mayor. Residents of the area report that Cottage Grove Avenue is always being driven at excessive speeds.

Chicago saw around 150 traffic-related fatalities last year, according to Lightfoot, who also noted that the city has already seen 100 this year.
