Heartstopper was been renewed for season 2 by Netflix on May 20, over a month after its season 1 launch. The LGBT, British coming-of-age rom-com series is based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel and webcomic series of the same name.
According to Deadline, Heartstopper is one of Netflix’s best-reviewed series and has received critical accolades for its uplifting portrayal of young queer people. The show has become a tremendous hit for the streamer, with a vast and devoted viewership. Heartstopper fans have been vocal on social media about the influence the show has had on them in real life, including a handful who were encouraged to come out after watching the series.

On September 22, Netflix stated that the whole Heartstopper main cast will return for season 2. Kit Connor (Nick), Joe Locke (Charlie), William Gao (Tao), Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Sebastian Croft (Ben), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), and Jenny Walser are among the cast members (Tori).
Following the news of her casting in the renowned BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who, there was some speculation as to whether Yasmin Finney would return for season 2, but worry not – Netflix confirmed that Yasmin will be returning to reprise her role as fan favorite Elle.

Netflix also announced four (!) new cast members for the project. Nick’s older brother, David Nelson, will be played by Jack Barton; Mr. Farouk, a Truham educator, will be played by Nima Taleghani; and Bradley Riches, who originally appeared in S1 as a Durham student, will now return in a named role as James McEwan. The fourth edition, Sahar Zahid, is maybe the most significant casting news.
Heartstopper announced an open casting call for the role of Sahar, a character from the original webcomic who attends Higgs, back in July. While no prior acting experience was required, the show specifically stated that they were searching for plus-size actors that are British or South Asian and identify as female or nonbinary. What Will The Heartstopper Season 2 Be About?

Heartstopper Season 1 followed the events of Volumes One and Two of Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper graphic novel series, which was published in 2019.
Though the exact plot of season 2 is unknown, fans speculate that it will cover Heartstopper Volumes Three and Four, in which Nick and Charlie face their first real relationship problems and go on a school trip to Paris, and Volume Five, in which Nick and Charlie face and try to overcome personal challenges. The third and fourth volumes of the graphic book series were released in 2020 and 2021, respectively, with the fifth and final chapters due in February 2023.
When Was The Heartstopper Season 2 Announced?
Surprisingly, Heartstopper season 2 was revealed at the same time as Heartstopper season 3! On May 20, Netflix granted the show a double-renewal, securing their streaming space for two more seasons.
