In a Shooting at Walmart, There Was One Victim and One Suspect
Evansville Central Dispatch has confirmed that emergency personnel responded to a situation involving an active shooter on Thursday night. According to Dispatch, the incident took place at the Walmart in Evansville which is located on South Red Bank Road.
The call came in at approximately 9:59 o’clock in the evening. According to Sgt. Anna Gray of the Evansville Police Department, who spoke with 14 News about the incident, when officers got to the scene, they went straight into the building.
Officers arrived at the site fairly quickly and went straight into the Walmart, according to Sgt. Gray. “We were provided with a description of the person of interest. After that, the officers started looking for the suspect. The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office was also dispatched to the scene of the shooting, and both deputies and police officers entered the building to search for the perpetrator of the shooting.
According to statements made by Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson, “Right away, we put up a team in conjunction with the Evansville Police Department, and we started looking for the danger.” “You may remember that a few decades back, the Columbine model, that came across – when you secure a location and wait for reinforcements to contain a crisis – came across.
That is not the model that we follow any longer. In the event that there is active gunfire, we will rush to the threat and eliminate it as quickly as possible in order to reduce the number of casualties. According to the police, the male suspect began shooting at law enforcement officers as soon as they entered the building. Multiple policemen of the police department fired back.

According to Gray, the shooter would fire and then flee, guiding the officers around the store as they searched for him. The assailant was taken out by gunfire and killed. The EPD asserts that the danger has been eliminated completely.
According to Sergeant Gray, at least one person was shot and sent to the hospital; however, it’s possible that there are additional casualties. At this point in time, it is not clear how severe the victim’s injuries are. Officials ask that anyone who was at the store at the time of the incident or who sustained injuries as a result of it get in touch with the police.
