How Industry Season 1 Ended (With Spoilers)

To be hired as full-time employees at Pierpoint & Co., Robert, Harper, Yasmin, and Gus, four ambitious banking graduates, had to deliver televised presentations in front of a panel of senior management. It was more of a protest against the abrupt death of his fellow graduate Hari, who Gus sat next to, and management is keen to put that sad occurrence behind them, that Gus made his truly odd outburst in one sentence and stormed out.

It appears they must maintain Gus’ loyalty for him to remain in his position.
When Robert developed a nose bleed during his presentation, everyone assumed it was caused by his coke habit. Due to his partying with clients, some members of the panel praised him as a good fit for the company.

Despite having one of the strongest performances, Yasmin and Harper had a falling out over the manipulation and sex shenanigans they had both engaged in with Robert. After leading Robert on an extended dance of flirtation for the whole of season 1, she had a remarkable encounter with him in the restrooms at the corporate Christmas party that made it apparent that she prefers Robert to her drippy, waster boyfriend Seb.

Robert, Yasmin, and Harper had a threesome during a house party, which Harper halted when she became too frightened.

When Harper felt too scared to speak, her graduate presentation went down in flames. Eric’s former boss, Eric Harper, had previously acted unprofessionally towards Harper earlier in the series and she had complained, so the “big cheese” at Pierpoint was eager to make her a deal that would see Eric rehired.

After Daria was fired as a result of Harper’s testimony that she exerted undue pressure on hair to make charges against Eric, it was Harper herself who was punished. Pierpoint & Co. has retained Harper, and we may infer that the other grads have been hired as well, given that they all appear in Season 2 of Industry.
