Chris Rock’s divorce from Malaak Compton-Rock is now finalized. According to TMZ, the former couple formalized their divorce on Monday after going before a New Jersey court. In 2014, the couple declared the end of their nearly 20-year marriage, and they spent the following two years working out the terms of their divorce settlement, including child support.
Rock and Compton-Rock were at odds over whether the comedian should support a child reared as their own for years, according to Compton-Rock. Rock, 50, indicated in his initial divorce application on December 23, 2015, that the pair had only two children together. Compton-Rock, on the other hand, maintained in her counterclaim that, in addition to their two children, there is a kid “who has resided with the parties since before her first birthday.”
Though Compton-Rock stated that the pair raised the child together and served as her parents, once the divorce was revealed, she decided to pursue the adoption procedure on her own. The divorce case was sealed, so specifics of their settlement, including child support, have not been revealed, according to TMZ.
Chris Rock is now officially single, according to TMZ, after visiting a New Jersey courthouse. Chris and his now ex-wife Malaak were in front of a judge on Monday to finalize their divorce. They married in 1996 and have two children, ages 12 and 14.
As previously stated, there is a third kid… and the circumstances surrounding her adoption are shrouded in mystery. Ntombi, now eight years old, moved in with the Rock family when she was just six months old. Ntombi is the daughter of destitute street peddlers from South Africa.
Chris insisted that Ntombi was not his daughter and that she had never been adopted. He has maintained frequent touch with his two children since the couple’s divorce in 2014, but he has not seen Ntombi. We don’t know the details of the settlement because the matter has been closed. It’s unclear what, if anything, Chris pays in child support… especially in the case of Ntombi.
