‘Jackass’ Star Bam Margera Reveals He Was Near Death After ‘gnarly’ Covid Case, Seizures

Bam Margera, the problematic former “Jackass” star, claims he nearly died last month and was “essentially… declared dead” last month. On Thursday’s episode of “Steve-Wild O’s Ride!” podcast, the 43-year-old skateboarder revealed his most recent hospitalization to his former daredevil co-star, Steve-O, 48.

Margera claimed that a “gnarly” bout of COVID-19 sent him to the ICU, where his “body shut down” during four seizures lasting 10 to 20 minutes each. “On the fourth one, I chewed my tongue so hard that it nearly fell out,” he explained.

“It was bloated and puffy and wouldn’t fit in my mouth, and I was swallowing contaminated blood, which gave me pneumonia, so when the shaman drove me to the hospital, I had my sixth seizure, and I couldn’t breathe without a tube down my throat.”

On October 21, 2013, Bam Margera attends the “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa” New York special showing at Sunshine Landmark. He recalled waking five days later. “We tried to pull the tube out, but you weren’t breathing on your own,” hospital workers told him.

“Dude, when they took that tube out, I felt like I was sucking on Darth Vader’s d-k,” Margera joked. The Post reached out to Margera’s representative for comment. He earlier addressed his medical crisis in an Instagram post on December 10th, informing fans that he was out of the San Diego hospital.

Margera has had a difficult few years. He skipped out on a court-ordered rehab stint for his high-profile substance misuse difficulties in June, prompting officials to go on the hunt for him. Margera returned to rehab in September after repeated escapes and a sighting in a Sarasota, Florida, bar.

‘Jackass’ star Bam Margera confirmed his death. Margera featured in “Jackass 3D” in 2010, but not in “Jackass Forever” in 2022. Margera reported being fired from “Jackass Forever” in February 2021, just days after announcing he was seeking treatment for mental health issues, because he tested positive for Adderall — a drug he claimed the team “knew full well” he had been taking for a decade to treat attention deficit disorder.

In August of that year, he filed a lawsuit alleging that he was forced to sign a “health agreement” during a 2019 rehab stint in order to participate in the 2022 film. In April 2022, he settled his contentious wrongful termination lawsuit against Johnny Knoxville and the “Jackass” team. Margera reportedly reached a confidential deal with producers Knoxville, Spike Jonze, and Jeffrey Tremaine, as well as Paramount Pictures, MTV, Dickhouse Entertainment, and Gorilla Flicks.
