A new mother and her 3-week-old infant were allegedly killed in their Fresno, California, home by an older sister and her boyfriend, according to authorities. The Fresno Police Department reported that Yarelly Solorio-Rivera, 22, and Martin Arroyo-Morales, 26, were detained on Wednesday for the alleged murders of Yanelly Solorio-Rivera and her infant daughter, Celine. After being transported to the Fresno County Jail, Yarelly and Arroyo-Morales were each charged with two counts of murder.

KFSN reports that Yanelly was shot and died while she was carrying her 3-week-old daughter Celine and sleeping in her bed. Celine also perished. Officers were dispatched to a home in the 2500 block of South Fruit Avenue in Fresno on September 24 just after 7 a.m. after reports of gunshots were heard inside a residence, according to FPD.

When the police arrived, they entered one of the bedrooms and discovered Yanelly and Celine. While emergency services were on the scene to administer medical care, both were declared dead. When the pair was questioned by detectives, both of them eventually broke down and confessed, Chief Balderrama told KFSN. Yearly, according to Chief Balderrama, harbored resentment toward her younger sister. As a “validated gang member,” Arroyo-Morales is.

The pair supposedly confessed, but according to investigators who spoke with KFSN, they showed no remorse. Early and Arroyo-Morales’ bond has been set at $2 million, according to KFSN. For their arraignment on Monday, both are anticipated in court.
