The divorce proceedings between Iyanna McNeely and Jarrette Jones, formerly of Love is Blind, have begun.
McNeely formally petitioned for a divorce from Jones on September 23, according to court papers obtained by PEOPLE. McNeely, 28, has retained the services of a lawyer, Amanda Oliver, based in Chicago, while Jones, also 28, will be representing himself.
According to E! News, McNeely stated that the breakup was due to irreconcilable disagreements.
Jones stated in response to PEOPLE: “Most people know by now that Iyanna and I have broken up. By doing this, we are continuing to implement our divorce plan. Always know that my best wishes are with Iyanna and her future endeavors. I appreciate everyone’s patience and compassion as I go through this challenging period.”
McNeely and Jones’s romance was explored in the show’s second season. They got married in the season finale, along with Danielle Ruhl and Nick Thompson.
In August, they made public their intention to end their marriage through a divorce announcement. The news of their divorce became public just before Ruhl, 29, and Thompson, 36, revealed they were also ending their marriage of one year.
McNeely and Jones released a statement saying, “After much contemplation, we’re sad to report that we have separated and will begin the divorce process.” Even if our hearts are joined in love, our paths in life are taking separate turns, and that’s well.
While “coming to this choice was far from easy,” McNeely and Jones promised to “always wish each other the very best.”

McNeely recently discussed the program’s influence on their marriage in anticipation of the Love Is Blind: After the Altar special airing in September.
Last month, she noted on the Diary of an Empath podcast, “Every time something like the season premiere comes out or After the Altar coming out, there’s always the understanding that the stability of our marriage will be in the limelight again.”
Continuing, she said, “So with Jarrett and I going through the struggles that we were, even as recently as before we chose to split, it was just heavy on my mind again, we’re going to have to explain ourselves, we’re going to have to relive everything that was placed on TV.”
