After Nick Saban made disparaging remarks about his team, Texas A&M head football coach Jimbo Fisher took part in a press conference on Thursday morning. Saban said on Wednesday that Texas A&M had purchased the whole 2022 recruiting class, which was the best in the nation.

“The relationship between us is over,” Fisher stated in his reaction, calling Saban “narcissistic” and saying he didn’t want to be affiliated with him longer. On top of everything else, Fisher made it apparent that he was not satisfied with Saban’s remarks.

When individuals show you who they are, “trust ’em,” Fisher remarked, quoting his father’s advice. “He’s letting you know who he is,” he says.

Like a shock to the college football world, Fisher’s press conference became the most talked about sporting event. After it was over, college football coaches throughout the country — and in particular those in the Southeastern Conference —reacted to Fisher and Saban’s spat. Below, you’ll find a selection of what they had to say.

He served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterback coach from 2014 until 2016 when he became Ole Miss’s head coach. After that, he coached Florida Atlantic for three seasons (2017-19) before taking over at Ole Miss (beginning in 2020). Kiffin has also served as head coach of the Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Volunteers, and Trojans at the University of Southern California.

When it comes to words, Kiffin rarely stumbles. The departing head coach is a frequent tweeter and has a lot to say about current events in college football on Twitter.

When Texas A&M takes on Alabama on Oct. 8, the feud between the two coaches can be settled. Tuscaloosa will host the game. Texas A&M defeated Alabama 41-38 in College Station during the 2021 season. Against the Aggies, Alabama has an 11-3 advantage in wins. Last season’s victory over Alabama ended an eight-game losing streak for Texas A&M.

Also, Saban accused Deion Sanders of bribing Travis Hunter, the No. 1 ranked prospect in the Class of 2022, for $1 million.

There is a law in place right now that prohibits a school from using a player’s name, picture, or likeness as a recruiting tool, Saban added. “It’s all over the newspaper. To give you an idea of how much they paid last year, Jackson State lured a million-dollar Division I athlete to the institution. They boasted about it in the newspaper. In the end, “no one did anything.”

Sanders objected to such a statement. He tweeted a few hours later, citing Hunter in the message.

You can count on me to confront Coach SABAN’s LYING tomorrow, Sanders promised. We paid a million dollars to @TravisHunterJr to play at @GoJSUTigersFB, and my son @ShedeurSanders woke me up with the news! PEOPLE don’t have to pay for the privilege of playing with each other.”

It wasn’t just Kiffin who was aware of the fight between the coaches of the Southeastern Conference. Eliah Drinkwitz, the head coach at the University of Missouri, also weighed in on the controversy on Twitter. GIF depicting Georgia head coach Kirby Smart eating popcorn and raising his eyebrows was Drinkwitz’s response to Kiffin’s advice to Sanders to stop berating Saban.

With both Saban and Fisher in attendance, the SEC spring meetings are going to be fascinating. At Fisher’s press conference he indicated he was not afraid of a fight with Saban and that he was ready for it.

What can I say? “Won’t it be a blast?” Fisher was quoted as saying. “What is making you uncomfortable? Confrontation isn’t a problem for me. It’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’m a fan. It wasn’t how I was brought up to avoid it.”

Fisher’s news conference would have been a popular Pay-Per-View option. Head coach Texas A&M requested that Saban be slapped on the head in it.

Fisher said, “Listen, I’m going to tell you one thing.” “You are free to address me in whatever way you see fit. You’re not implying that I’m a cheater. When I was a kid, I learned that if you cheated or lied, your dad would slap you on the head. It’s possible that someone should have hit him (Saban).

Something you don’t have is the ability to understand. Now you’re tampering with our name, too. Using those kids’ names and our name, you’re making fun of Texas A&M’s name. With either one of them, it’s fine with me. That’s not something I’m interested in. That wasn’t how I was brought up.”

What will the SEC do? Fisher handed the ball back to the conference.

Fisher responded, “It’s great if that’s their job… “They will, I’m sure of it. I’m sure they’ll issue some sort of reprimand or statement, and then we can go on. Texas A&M and the individuals that work here and our coaches are what this is about. That is the point of all of this. You don’t want to go wrong. We’re staying put. There is still much to be done. We haven’t arrived at the destination we had hoped for. A wonderful program is being built, and it’s going to be great.”
