A divorce has been finalized between NASCAR driver Kurt Busch and his wife of five years, Ashley Busch. “It breaks my heart to report that both my wife Ashley and I have decided to work toward ending our marriage. The decision to divorce is profoundly personal and sensitive, and I pray that our right to privacy will be honored. “In a statement that was made available to PEOPLE, 43-year-old Kurt wrote the following:

Who is Kurt?

In Las Vegas, Nevada, Busch was born to his parents, Thomas and Gaye Busch. Busch began going to the racetrack with his father when he was six and soon began competing in kart races. When he was still a minor, he entered a Dwarf competition and won in just his second race, which took place in the Bullring of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This father-and-son duo competed together at western tracks from Southern California to Utah.

Busch won 10 straight races in 1994, his first full year as a driver. He did so in ten different ways around the country. Eventually, his father sold their midget equipment and bought a powerful vehicle for the Legends Series, which Busch began driving when he was 18. Busch enrolled at the University of Arizona after completing his high school education at Durango High School to earn a degree in Pharmacy.

During the 2005 Hungarian Grand Prix, Busch and his girlfriend Eva Bryan announced their engagement to one another. They had their wedding in Virginia on July 27, 2006, exactly three years from the day they first met on a blind date. On June 30, 2011, Busch stated: “Those in the NASCAR community have been aware for some time now that we are no longer together and are legally divorced.” The news came a few days after Busch was seen kissing another lady in the celebratory victory lane after winning a race at Sonoma Raceway. In October of 2014, Busch was introduced to polo player Ashley Van Metre at Martinsville by Van Metre’s sister, who was also a friend of Busch’s. After some time, the two started a romantic relationship, and on August 26, 2015, Busch announced they were engaged.

On January 7, 2017, they exchanged wedding vows. Since August 2019, Busch and his wife have been featured on the reality TV show Racing Wives on CMT. On May 17, 2022, it was disclosed that Ashley Busch had submitted a petition for dissolution of marriage.

Busch is a devoted baseball lover and has expressed his intention to visit every stadium in the United States. The Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears are his favorite baseball and American football teams. Both of his parents were born and raised in the city of Chicago. Additionally, he is a supporter of the Vegas Golden Knights.

Before the start of the 2006 campaign, Busch had plastic surgery to have his ears repositioned to be more in line with the rest of his head.

Felix Sabates, a well-known entrepreneur who was a close friend of Kurt Busch, was a co-owner of Chip Ganassi Racing (GCR) and ran the successful racing team SABCO Racing. Kurt Busch is a buddy of Felix Sabates. When Busch decided to drive for Phoenix Racing (a GCR ally) in 2012, he co-credited Sabates with helping him convince James Finch to recruit him. Sabates was the owner of Phoenix Racing at the time.

According to court records acquired by TMZ, Ashley submitted the petition for divorce on May 9 of this year. According to the documents, Ashley says that she and her husband’s marriage is “completely irreparable.”

Kurt and Ashley first met in 2015, and after dating for two years before getting married in 2017, they tied the knot.

The announcement of their divorce came only a few days after Kurt brought home a victory at Kansas Speedway on Sunday when he finished first. Within the rankings for the Cup Series, he is presently positioned 18th.

Following his most recent victory, he gave an interview to NBC Sports in which he thanked everyone who contributed to his accomplishment.

“My home life with my family is the best. I have nothing but affection for my coworkers at KBI and 23XI.
