When he met his mother, Susan, a nurse, his father, John O’Leary, was a college lecturer. O’Leary’s father became a solicitor, working for the Liverpool company Rex Makin. According to John O’Leary, his kid is “far more serious” than his other children. “He was quite studious, and he always had his face in a book,” he told The Times. “He was a wonderful youngster who was earnest and quiet.”
Before becoming a chartered accountant, O’Leary studied econometrics and quantitative economics at the London School of Economics (LSE). According to Yahoo!, Truss studied economics, philosophy, and politics at Merton College in Oxford. Truss and O’Leary, both Conservative Party members, met in their early twenties at the 1997 Conservative Party conference in Blackpool.

Three years later, the couple married and had two daughters, Frances and Liberty.
