Madeleine Stowe and Stephen Rider in ‘Welcome to Derry’

Being a lover of horror on both the big and small screens is so thrilling right now. One of the most eagerly awaited upcoming programs on streaming services is Welcome to Derry. The Stephen King adaptation Max IT, which is scheduled to premiere in 2024, recently made its first casting announcement.

It has now come to light that Stephen Rider and Madeleine Stowe have joined this terrible group. According to Deadline, Stowe will appear frequently as a guest star on the show, while Rider will be a regular. Who they are portraying is still a mystery.

To that end, it should be noted that Stowe is best known for her appearances in Revenge, The Two Jakes, Stakeout, 12 Monkeys, and Blink, whereas Rider is best known for his parts in the Marvel television series Daredevil and Luke Cage as well as films like The Butler and The Great Debaters. For the IT prequel, the two join Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar.

What’s Welcome to Derry About?

While there are still many unanswered questions regarding Welcome to Derry’s plot, it is known that the show will begin in the 1960s and gradually move up to the events of Andy Muschietti’s 1989 debut IT movie. It remains to be seen if it will occur over a single season or several.

Additionally, even though Bill Skarsgrd won’t be going back to Derry for this prequel, the series will go farther into Pennywise’s horrible past.  The two IT movies gave us brief hints and teases, but given the town’s extremely terrible past, it will be fascinating to watch where this series takes Derry. Muschietti will once again helm a number of the show’s episodes.

The first episode was written by the well-known director Jason Fuchs, who will be directing The Flash this summer. In addition, Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane are working together as Derry’s co-showrunners. Given that the two IT movies were tremendous box office and critical successes, Warner Brothers most likely anticipate a big success for their recently relaunched streaming service.
