According to authorities, a 30-year-old man was shot by Portland police early on Saturday in the Reed area in Southeast Portland and died as a result. Immanuel Jaquez Clark-Johnson of Portland died from a gunshot wound, according to the state medical examiner’s office, Portland police said in a statement on Wednesday. Police remained mum on Clark-passing Johnson’s day.
Together with the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office and the East County Major Crimes Team, the Portland Police Bureau’s homicide section is looking into the shooting. According to police, the district attorney will determine whether the case merits being brought before a grand jury.
Officers responded to a suspected armed robbery in the 5000 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard just before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Immediately north of Reed College, in the 2900 block of Southeast Steele Street, an officer observed a car connected to the suspected heist speeding before coming to a stop in a parking lot of Redwood Friends Church.
Police shot and wounded Clark-Johnson there around 12:41 in the morning. How many bullets were fired or how many cops used their guns has not been disclosed by the police. Officers detained three more persons while transporting Clark-Johnson to the hospital in an ambulance. Despite the man’s severe injuries, Kevin Allen, a spokesman for the police, stated on Saturday that he was likely to survive.

The other individuals’ identities and arrest status have not been made public by the police. With his passing, Clark-Johnson became the fourth person slain by Portland police in 2022, making his death the 91st homicide in the city so far this year. Four more police officers have been shot and wounded.
Three people were killed by Portland police: Joel Michael Arevalo, 30, Johnathan Worth, 19, and Aaron Stanton, 40. For the sixth time since July and the second time this month, Portland police have violated their own policy against publishing the names of officers who use lethal force within a day by failing to identify the shooters on Saturday.
