At the junction of 62nd and Dodge Streets in Bennington, a female pedestrian was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle (SUV).

The Omaha Police Department reports that Shelby L. Cherek, 35 years old, was 22 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident.

Just before 8:25 p.m. On Tuesday, officers from the Omaha Police Department responded to a site near the University of Nebraska at Omaha campus where a pedestrian had been engaged in a collision that resulted in personal injuries. The incident included a vehicle injuring a pedestrian due to the crash.

There, who was on the north side of Dodge Street when the incident occurred, moved out onto a designated crosswalk against the traffic signal and was struck by a westbound 2014 Acura MDX that was going in the center lane of the roadway. Until medics from the Omaha Fire Department arrived, security guards at the University of Nebraska in Omaha performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the patient. She suffered severe head trauma and was sent to the Nebraska Medical Center, but after receiving treatment there, she passed unexpectedly early on Wednesday morning. She had been taken there from the hospital.
