It’s difficult to picture a world without Rick and Morty, even in a cosmos with endless possibilities. But don’t worry, it doesn’t appear like you will have to, at least not for a while.
Adult Swim had previously ordered an additional 70 episodes of Rick and Morty. SEVENTY. Some of these episodes have since aired, but if the program keeps producing 10 episodes per season, we’ll eventually reach season 10.
To put it another way, Rick and Morty’s season six has long been confirmed, and it appears that production on that season is already almost finished. Author Alex Rubens teased followers on Twitter earlier this year by writing: “Can I say that Season 7 of Rick and Morty has begun to be written? (If we didn’t, I wouldn’t be here.)”
Season six must be coming soon, right? Since then, Rick and Morty writer Cody Ziglar has verified through Twitter that writing for season seven is already complete. There’s nothing sexier than that!

Rick and Morty Season 6 Release Date
It appears like the release timetable for Rick and Morty could settle into a more predictable pattern now that the makers are free to create new episodes without having to wait for renewal.
The broadcaster announced a 2022 premiere at Rick and Morty’s exclusive panel at the Adult Swim Festival 2021 in November (via ScreenRant). That was the closest we got to a certain date, although season six might conceivably debut in the summer of 2022, one year after season five concluded.
With the announcement (via ComicBook) that we’ll get our first peek at season six during the in-person event, 2022’s Adult Swim Block Party offers even more crucial information. Fear not if you are unable to get to Philadelphia between August 5 and 7! Although the event will be a webcast on YouTube, it’s uncertain if the video will be available online throughout the weekend.
Therefore, avoid placing all of your bets on a summer release, especially because the first footage won’t be available until August. Adult Swim may shock us with a Christmas release or perhaps change the schedule so that episodes come out less frequently. To give his team more breathing room, co-creator Justin Roiland originally suggested showing each chapter one month apart.
Who’s to say Rick and Morty won’t give it a shot one day, or at the very least, air some specials ahead of the holidays? We would treat ourselves to a Pickle Rick on Valentine’s Day.

Rick and Morty Season 6 Plot
We hope that future stories will be more like “Mortyplicity” and less like “Rickdependence Spray,” which is still arguably the most stupid Rick and Morty episode to date, even though there are currently no plot details for season six available.
There was a hint in the season five finale that things might go in this manner. At the end of each season, Rick and Morty tend to push the canon further, but at no other point in its history has this show leaned so heavily on serialized storytelling.
In addition to bringing Evil Morty back, “Rickmurai Jack” also exposed Rick’s true past, effectively confirming that his wife and daughter were truly murdered by another Rick. Since this is the real reality, as was hinted at in a season three flashback, don’t be surprised if the program begins to divulge more canon in the future.
This is not only what the audience wants, but it also portends well for the future of Rick and Morty. Even though this show thrives on humor and escape, if you don’t care about the characters, outrageous antics and shady plot twists may not always be enough to keep you entertained. Just let’s hope that season six manages to strike a balance between these revolutionary character beats and the show’s innate absurdity going ahead.
How about more of Jessica and Space Beth, two intriguing characters that were largely ignored throughout season five, while we’re talking about what we hope to see next? Additionally, Evil Morty might make an appearance, perhaps revealing what lurks beyond the Central Finite Curve.
We also know that Adult Swim will shortly air a brand-new Vindicators spin-off. Supernova, Vance Maximus, Alan Rails, Crocubot, and Noob Noob, among other superheroes, are likely to take names and kick asses throughout the cosmos. It will most likely take place before the season three episode in which this squad perished.
Will there be any crossover between this short series and Rick and Morty season six? Although it will be placed in canon, there is a chance that crossovers won’t occur, unlike with anime spin-offs.
To Inverse, Spencer Grammer gave some tantalizing hints about impending storylines.
“Coming up are some intriguing episodes where you get to know the family members on a deeper level. This season featured a lot of episodes that focused on families, which I always find to be extremely interesting. Maybe while Rick is away spending time with Jerry. Observing Beth, Morty, and Summer live separate lives from Rick is interesting.”
And it appears that the villain for season six has been identified. Although the sitcom has never been afraid to depict the Smith family in another light (lol), it appears like Morty’s older sister will be the season’s main antagonist. It sounds like something that will be explored, whether it’s a season-long plot, a single episode, or a brief arc.
According to Grammer, “Evil Summer is probably the closest to Rick she can be.” “She gets a lot of her brilliance from Rick because the female members of the family do. In a manner, she’d have to dominate Rick’s thinking.”
Even though Grammer made sure to clarify that she was only speculating, it sounds like something she has given some attention to. And perhaps season seven if Evil Summer doesn’t appear in season six.
There will be a tonne more episodes, as I keep saying, remarked Grammer. “They are now writing season six and will probably soon begin writing season seven. It’s wonderful to be on a regular schedule that people can ideally observe every year, but who knows, it might take two! I don’t want to raise anyone’s expectations, but I’m not sure if three years will pass again.”
Sixth-season events will almost certainly involve some sort of change.
It’s a strange equilibrium, Harmon remarked (via Decider). “It’s strange to even in live-action TV because… Particularly in animation, where characters are figurative, for example, 14 years old forever, you don’t want your characters to develop and alter to the extent that they cease to be the characters that they were. Additionally, you don’t want to convey the idea that they are unchangeable.”
“It’s a strange, entertaining philosophical idea that Morty isn’t changing as he gets older. But because he has been a part of the program for so long, Morty is evolving. When we offer narrative ideas that involve Morty becoming a little more jaded or his relationship with Rick deteriorating, we certainly bring it up. Time will tell if that was merely a bad decision and whether Morty should just be put in amber to freeze.”
And you can anticipate the same level of depth.
Harmon admitted that she “tends to add a bunch of jokes last” and to “remember that it’s comedy.”
“I’m initially thinking to myself, “Why is this a story? Why is it significant to one of these personalities, and why? What is happening here? Many talks sound nothing like what you might anticipate in a comedy room because you’re looking for a story and attempting to make it personal.”
But the crucial query is: Will season 7 be the final one?
“Way too soon to make a prediction. You’ll always think this thing could last 20, 30, or more seasons. Characters in our show don’t truly age; the Simpsons would be proud. We have a lot of options to keep this train moving “Roiland remarked (via CheatSheet).
Harmon, though, was a little more accepting of the idea of it concluding even though he provided a comparable time frame.
“Yes, I’ll finish it! However, I’m not sure if that would be on 70. Even if you told me that this thing lasts for 20 years, I wouldn’t be at least astonished. I absolutely would not object to that. Let’s do it if it still feels right “Harmon remarked.
“Yes, unless people suddenly stop caring. If we produce something and no one watches it…” said Roiland.
“We’re content. There are many stories we want to tell and many things to do, but it’s wonderful. Such job security is not common in this community.”
With fan podcast Interdimensional RSS, Rick and Morty showrunner and executive producer Scott Marder discussed the growing emphasis on establishing greater continuity with the series (via ComicBook). More broad plot lines incorporate historical events as the show’s future seems to be headed.
“Seventh season writing is currently nearing its conclusion. We’ve got the show moving, but that just means that season 6 is animating and everything is still in the works, according to Marder.
Even before [season five] debuted, we thought it would be amusing to add a little more consistency and make the episodes seem less solitary. This makes me think that the main message I’m typically getting from season five is something like, “Fun episodes, but we want to feel like “A equals B” and they’re all kind of moving, and relate to each other, and don’t simply dismiss stuff from the past.” Not the season five launch target.”
Rick and Morty Season 6 Cast
Rick and Morty simply wouldn’t function without Rick and Morty, no matter what dimension we could be in. That means that in season 6, Justin Roiland will unavoidably return to play the two principal roles, but who will join him?
As Jerry, Beth, and Summer Smith, respectively, Chris Parnell, Sarah Chalke, and Spencer Grammer are all but guaranteed to return. Chalke will probably continue to portray both Beth and Space Beth, who is possibly her clone.
Other guest actors who could reappear in season 6 include:
• Kari Wahlgren as Jessica.
• Keith David as the President of the United States.
• Dan Harmon as Birdperson/Phoenixperson and also Mr. Nimbus.
• Alison Brie as Planetina.
• Christina Ricci as Princess Poñeta, the princess of the CHUD.
• Darren Criss as Bruce Chutback.
After season five, Mr. Poopybutthole also reappeared, so we anticipate Justin Roiland will likely play this character again at some point in the future, even if it’s just to provide another annual update on his love life.
