Early Life

Dyrdek was born on June 28th, 1974, in Kettering, Ohio. Neil Blender, a professional skateboarder, gave him his first board when he was just 11 years old. This was the spark that ignited his desire to pursue a professional skateboarding career, and that was all he could think about. At school, he planned all the tricks he wanted to try out later, and then he skated and practiced until his parents came to pick him up late at night for the skate sesh. His professional skateboarding career began at the age of 12. He moved away from home at the age of 16 to pursue a career as a professional skateboarder in Southern California.

Dyrdek began riding for DC Shoes soon after moving to California. DC Shoes sponsored Dyrdek from 2010 to 2016. Dyrdek’s sponsors include Silver Trucks, EA Skate, and Monster Energy. A year later, in 2010, Dyrdek founded the Street League Skateboarding competition. A $1.6 million prize has made the competition an international event. Rob Dyrdek’s documentary, “The Motivation,” focused on this competition. In 2013, the film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

From November 2006 to April 2008, the MTV series “Rob & Big” aired more than 30 episodes over three seasons. 70 episodes were aired in seven seasons of “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory,” which premiered in February 2009.
