SPM Biography
Carlos Coy was born in Houston, Texas, on October 5, 1970. According to court documents, he is currently 51 years old and will remain in prison until 2047. As a Christian rapper, Coy felt like an outsider in the music industry because of his religious beliefs. Coy started rapping and releasing music under the names South Park Mexican and SPM in 1994. They were all native Texans from McAllen: Coy, Arthur Jr., and Jose Antonio Garza founded Dope House Records in 1995.
Hillwood, Coy’s first album as South Park Mexican (SPM), was released in March 1995. Coy spent the next two years promoting his first album before launching into the production of his second, which was released two years later. This album, Hustle Town, came out in March 1998 and was a commercial smash. The album went platinum after becoming a huge hit in Houston’s underground rap scene.
