On August 16, 1975, in Raukokore, New Zealand, Taika David Cohen became Taika Waititi. Waititi made his acting debut in the 1999 New Zealand film “Scarfies,” and he soon followed up with roles in “Snakeskin” (2001), “The Strip,” “The Tribe,” “Revelations,” and “Freaky” (2003).
