Early Life
On December 13, 1989, Taylor Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania. James Taylor is the inspiration behind her moniker. When she was younger, she and her family lived on a Christmas tree farm with their parents Scott and Andrea, and her younger brother Austin. First grade was spent at The Wyndcroft School after attending a Montessori preschool and kindergarten. As a young girl, Taylor became fascinated with the performing arts, particularly musical theatre. She also took acting and vocal lessons in New York City while she was there.
Shania Twain was a big influence on her love of country music, which led her to explore other artists in the genre. When she was a teen and a preteen, she sang at community events and festivals. Once she had come to that conclusion, she and her mother went to Nashville and submitted a demo of Taylor’s early cover versions of Dolly Parton and The Chick’s songs. She was rejected by record labels because they felt she lacked originality.
She wrote “Lucky You” at the age of 12 after learning how to play the guitar. Nashville, Tennessee, became the new home of Taylor Swift’s family when she was just 14 years old. Dan Dymtrow, Swift’s manager, has been with the singer since 2003. He played a key role in landing Taylor Swift a spot in Abercrombie & Fitch’s “Rising Stars” campaign as well as a spot on a Maybelline compilation CD featuring one of her original songs. Swift signed an artist development deal with RCA Records after performing her songs at a showcase for the label.

The singles “Our Song” and “Should’ve Said No” both peaked at number one on the charts as a result of the album. The RIAA has awarded her debut album platinum status four times over.
With Fearless, Taylor Swift’s second studio album, she reached the top of the charts in four countries: the United States, the country music scene in New Zealand, and Canada. “Love Story” and “You Belong with Me,” two of the album’s number-one singles, have each been certified platinum in four different countries.
Faith Hill, John Mayer, and Justin Bieber are just a few of the artists she’s shared the stage with. 23 American Music Awards, 10 Grammys, and 23 Billboard Music Awards are among Swift’s many honors. Taylor made $185 million from her empire between June 2018 and June 2019, mainly thanks to her “Reputation” stadium tour, which brought in $266 million. She made $64 million from June 2019 to June 2020.

Republic Records Deal and Departure from Big Machine
Between 2006 and 2017, Taylor recorded and produced six albums for Big Machine Records. It was revealed in 2018 that her relationship with Big Machine and its founder Scott Borchetta had become quite strained when her contract was up for renewal. This negotiation was primarily about Taylor gaining control over her first six albums. For many years to come, Borchetta is said to have offered her a deal that would allow her to reclaim control of her old albums one at a time.
At some point in the future, Taylor would explain that she did not want to be sold off to a new company. By signing a new long-term deal with Universal’s Republic Records, she decided to leave Big Machine and her back catalog behind. Among the conditions attached to the new agreement were the following: 1) From now on, she owns all of her master recordings. The profits from her music sales are more lucrative for her. As a bonus, if Universal ever decides to sell its $1 billion stakes in Spotify, Taylor will get a significant portion of the proceeds.
