On January 1 of this year, a former prosecutor in Texas for cases involving domestic violence was found dead, and her husband has been charged with her murder. On Sunday, the 58-year-old Granbury resident Jeffrey McLaughlin was charged with first-degree criminal murder and was subsequently lodged in the Hood County Jail.

Venisa McLaughlin, McLaughlin’s wife, was found dead, and Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds identified the victim as being Venisa McLaughlin. However, he did not provide any information regarding the circumstances surrounding her passing.

According to what the Sheriff of Hood County said to the Hood County News, his investigators are “still aggressively investigating” the case while also reviewing the evidence. Hood County Attorney Matt Mills stated that Venisa McLaughlin worked as an assistant county attorney in his office and handled a variety of issues, including those involving protective orders and mental commitments, among other things.

In April, she resigned from her position, and later, she was employed by Pecan Financial Services, where she works with customers who require assistance with estate planning. Jeffrey McLaughlin, 58, was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder in connection with the death of his ex-wife, who worked as a prosecutor. Mills described the information on McLaughlin’s passing as “heartbreaking” in a message that was published on his Facebook page.
