Kari Lake, who was vying for governor of Arizona against Democrat Katie Hobbs, was possibly the most pro-Trump candidate running for office this year. Exit polls confirm that she lost by ignoring the issues of white suburbanites with college educations, even as the GOP made gains with the state’s Hispanic votes.
By the numbers: According to the AP/NORC exit poll, Hobbs won 55% of white voters with college educations, a strong showing that surpasses Sen. Kyrsten Sinema’s excellent 51% performance with the group in 2018. But Lake made definite progress with Hispanic votes. Hobbs defeated Sinema by 15 points (57% to 42%) among Latino voters, a notable decline from Sinema’s 38-point lead among this demographic in 2018.

In an overnight shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs that left five people dead and 18 injured, authorities have named 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich as the suspect, according to a news conference held on Sunday.
The most recent: Police reported that the suspect entered Club Q with an AR-15-style gun. The shooting ended when someone shot the suspect with a firearm they had taken from him and pinned him down, Colorado Springs Mayor John Suthers told the New York Times on Sunday evening.
