On February 18, 2022, Amazon Prime began streaming the first season of The Totems. When it comes to totems, we’re not exactly transported to the world of the scouts or the Wild West. As an alternative, the audience of this French production is plunged headfirst into the Cold War era’s heart and soul. In the 1960s, the Cold War, and a whole mindset. There is a soap opera-like atmosphere between the American government, which is trying to stop the spread of communism in Europe and the Eastern bloc, and the rest of the Western world. That is the king of the jungle in its own backyard. Totem is an espionage thriller in the most literal sense of the word.

Totem Season 2 Story
Set in 1965 during the Cold War, Totems follows a French scientist, Francis Mareuil, who begins spying for the Soviet Union. Lyudmila Goloubeva, the child of Russian researcher Boris Goloubeva, who developed the spy satellite/weapon, also comes to light.
Aspiring to be a pianist, she accepts a KGB offer to spy on her father, who is a KGB agent. While working as a double agent for the French Secret Service and the CIA, Mareuil meets Lyudmila Goloubeva, a pianist who was subjected to forced labor for the KGB. No one can tell what is the result of political machinations and what is the real deal between these two people. With France, Russia, and the United States squaring off against one another in a game of brutal deception, it’s a return to the Cold War.

As Francis Mareuil, José Garcia plays Virgile, Vera Kolesnikova plays Lyudmila Goloubeva, and Lambert Wilson plays Charles Contignet in Totem, the main cast features Niels Schneider as Francis Mareuil. Anne Mareuil is played by Ana Girardot, Boris Golubev is played by Aleksey Guskov, and Dimitri Yemeline is played by Michael Gor. Surho Sugaipov plays Yuri Melia and Jules Dhios Francisco plays Paul Mareuil. Tim Ahern plays Larry Goldstein. In addition to Klez Brandar and David Bowles, other regulars include Pavel Krz as Josef and David Bowles as Man with Speakers. Klára Issová as Mirka Kucerova and Anatoliy Kot as Leonid Bakarin are joined by Eden Ducourant as Martine and Antonin Maurel as Colonel Loridon.
Totems Reviews
Totems are primarily concerned with the plight of those who find themselves in the path of enemy fire. As far as the show is concerned, Francis and Lyudmila’s supposedly adversarial romance and how it surpasses the warlike scenario are the focus. Schneider and Kolesnikova have a wonderful rapport. Even when they’re not acting like they’re giving it their all, the two of them delve deeper into the moral grey area of participating in “anti-national” acts than you might expect. Despite this, their time together is beautiful and filled with passionate tension.
All the issues that Anne deals with in her daily life are depicted throughout her journey. It lacks the sophistication of Russia, France, and the United States intelligence operations. It isn’t very exciting. It’s a lot of work. Even if someone is waiting around the corner to ease your suffering, the price is far greater than a graze from a gunshot. My first impressions are that her storyline is a little out of place. Fortunately, as the series progresses, it becomes increasingly clear why Anne’s story is being told. An extremely well-thought-out program like Totems pays close attention to every aspect of production, including set design, costuming, visual effects, and sound effects (SFX). As a Cold War thriller, it’s a slam dunk. However, its romantic subplot is more likely to sway the show’s audience. A standing ovation for the film’s stellar cast is well-deserved.

In mid or late 2023, Amazon Prime will air Totems season 2. Totem’s first season is now streaming via Amazon Prime Video. Season spy, on the other hand, will keep the audience informed about the release date of the next season.
