Recap Of Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 1 – “Slave”
The episode begins with Einar, a young man, training in the bush. His mother and sister, Lotta, mock him, but Einar feels obligated to safeguard the community following the previous raids. The village has been raided. Einar and his family try to flee, but his mother is fatally shot in the back.
Einar and Lotta are apprehended, but Lotta is slain when she tries to knife one of her captors. Einar is sold into slavery but is unaware of his predicament until he witnesses a woman being tossed overboard on the boat he is on. He makes a pledge to himself that he will not die.
Einar attempts to flee after arriving on land and being groomed for sale. After breaking into a cabin, he is quickly apprehended and made an example in front of the other slaves. Slave dealers push them to accept their fate because they will not survive on their own.

Leif arrives at the slave market in pursuit of Thorfinn, a young blond man. The slave dealers misidentify him as Einar, but when Leif refuses him, they try to sell Einar instead. Leif, on the other hand, is only interested in locating a family member, not in purchasing slaves.
While Einar is watching Leif leave, a tall blond man arrives and asks to inspect him. Then he offers Einar a job working on his farm. As they stroll through the farm, Einar’s new owner summons a young guy named Thorfinn. Einar instantly identifies him as the man Leif was looking for at the market.

Episode 2 will be available on Netflix and Crunchyroll on Monday, January 16th, 2023. The time of release is 11:30 a.m. ET. Episode 2 will be titled “Ketil’s Farm” and will last around 23 minutes.

Predictions:
Vinland Saga is based on historical characters, however, it is not a faithful depiction of their stories. While this makes the tale less predictable, the episode two previews have given us something to work with. We should have enough information to make a few educated estimates.
Ketil appears to be a reasonable owner based on his actions. I assume Einar will have a learning curve, and this will most likely be how he and Thorfinn become close. Someone’s attention was drawn to a woman in the preview. Since we seem to be focusing on Einar, I’m guessing he’ll be the one to develop sentiments. Given her appearance, I wouldn’t be surprised if she is related to Ketil in some manner, rendering her untouchable.
