When Does the NBA Season Start 2022-23?

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has been in basketball for quite some time. So, do you know when the NBA season starts this year?

The regular season begins on October 19, precisely three weeks after training camp ended on September 28. Due to the pandemic, the season has started on numerous dates.

Moreover, it has been delayed for the coaches’ and players’ safety. A season would be completed in April without delays and cancellations, although this does not include the playoffs.

When Does the NBA Regular Season Start and End?

The regular season begins on October 19, exactly three weeks after training camp concludes. In this matchup, the reigning NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks take on the Brooklyn Nets.

A play-in tournament for seventh and eighth-seeded teams in the Western and Eastern Conferences will be held on April 12, 2022, following the end of the regular season on April 10.

Starting on April 16, the NBA playoffs will go through June 19, the earliest date for the NBA Championship game seven.

With the All-Star break scheduled for February 18 to February 20, the NBA Draft is scheduled for June 23.

In the seven months from October to April, a team will play seven to sixteen games on average. There are six months in a season since it lasts from mid-late October to April 1.

How Long Will the 2022-23 NBA Season Be?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic interrupting the NBA regular season for the past two seasons, the 2022-23 NBA season will resume its typical 82-game season.

As of the first round, the game tournament will determine each league’s last two playoff spots and will be played in a best-of-seven format for every game.

Does the 2021-22 NBA Season Always Consist of 82 Games

Since its inception in 1946, the NBA has typically played 82 games every season. For the first ten years of the NBA’s existence, only 8 to 17 teams were in the league, yet the company accepted many games ranging from 60 to 72.

The first 80-game season was played in 1962 when only nine teams were in the league. An average season would feature eight to ten meetings between two groups.

While current NBA players complain that their season is too long, the number of games they play has stayed steady. Not because of the 82-game series, but because of years of playing without rest, players are getting injured.

After years of playing college and AAU basketball, a professional player cannot afford to take any days off for fear of the competition catching up and leaving them behind in performance.

When Do the Playoffs Begin and End?

The NBA playoffs are a great time to watch basketball. Basketball fans will mostly ignore the regular season and instead focus on the postseason.

Early June marks the beginning of playoffs, which begin in mid-April and go through early June. If no significant disruptions exist, such as a pandemic, the NBA’s schedule will remain relatively constant yearly.

What Is the Best Start to an NBA Season for a Team?

At the start of the 1971/72 season, the Los Angeles Lakers won 33 straight games, led by Jerry West. Throughout the 82-game season, the team won 69 games and lost 13.

This was the best record in league history for any team. Among the players were Heat legends Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, and Pat Riley, the team’s former coach and current general manager.

As a result, the season’s NBA record for most wins has been split twice, the first time being by the Chicago Bulls in 1995/96 when they won 72 games and lost just 10.

Only nine games were lost by the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry and Kevin Durant in the 2015-16 season.
