When Visual Concepts and 2K Sports release WWE 2K22 on March 11, it’s comeback season for the series.

Since WWE 2K20’s launch in October 2019 with a slew of difficulties, this is the first release in the WWE franchise. After a break of a year or so, the show has undergone a major transformation, much like WWE itself.

Only one thing is the same: different editions and anticipated DLC packs are still available.

The season pass for this year’s game includes five DLC packs. Additional Superstars will be added to the roster for each. Machine Gun Kelly, who has been heavily involved with the game’s soundtrack, will be one of the first to be announced.

Other packs will include NXT 2.0 stars like Bron Breakker, according to Michael Straw of Sports Gamers Online.

If you preorder the nWo 4-Life Edition or Deluxe Edition of the game, you get a season pass that includes all five DLC packs. Premium editions will also get early access on March 8th for those who choose to purchase them instead of the normal version.

As a bonus, the nWo 4-Life Edition also contains the Undertaker Immortal Pack and the Starrcade ‘96 Rey Mysterio pack, as well as a few more themed venues.

The game’s cover features Rey Mysterio himself. In the last few months, the WWE roster has experienced some significant changes as a result of more than 80 cuts and releases.

No matter how the lineup evolves after release, 2K22 is poised for a strong comeback because of the extra time off and the increased capability of next-generation systems.
A developer’s deep dive into the game’s gameplay revealed a slew of new details about its “reworked gameplay system”:
Notable changes include the elimination of clunky controls and the introduction of a combo system that may bring back memories of classic 2D fighting games for some players.

In addition, blocking, evading, and breakers will be included in the combat. If both players click the same strike button, it will result in a stalemate instead of arbitrarily (if not unfairly) determining the winner. As seen in the video, these additional components make gaming more diversified and natural—and it’s a treat for both players and spectators alike!

It’s no secret that wrestling fans have been clamoring for the return of MyGM, a feature that was last seen in a 2K wrestling game in 2007.

The ability to manage rosters and entire shows while receiving feedback in the form of audience reaction—in the arena and via television ratings—seems to offer a can’t-miss gameplay loop, but it will take a significant investment to see if this feature matches the fond memories players have of the mode.

On paper, WWE 2K22 appears to be able to live up to the anticipation that has surrounded the game since its release.
