In recent months, Paramount Network has given viewers a lot to look forward to after a long period of silence concerning Yellowstone’s future. An official fifth season premiere date was set for early February, and word quickly spread that the hit rancher drama would be going big this time around.

the next season of Yellowstone is expected to have two seven-episode installments and an additional four episodes, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Ahead of the premiere of season 6, star Kelly Reilly shared some juicy details about her character Beth Dutton with Vulture in June. “I will say as the kingdom gets greater, it becomes more difficult to control,” Reilly stated in answer to whether John Dutton (Kevin Costner) will win the Montana governorship as he set out to in season four.

Meanwhile, even though some of the most obvious enemies were wiped out in season four, she claims that the Duttons and their ranch will face a slew of new threats, some of which are based on events in the real world. “They’re on their way. They’re breaking the law. When it comes to Montana, it’s just like that. Billionaires are snatching it up.”

The Cast is Expanding

According to casting news, there are a few indicators as to what the season 5 plot will look like.

There have been rumors since June that Josh Lucas, Kylie Rogers, and Kyle Red Silverstein, who play the younger versions of John Dutton and Beth, respectively, will be returning, suggesting that we may see some flashbacks to the family’s past. Rainwater’s right-hand man Mo (played by Mo Brings Plenty) and the character of Governor Lynelle Perry (played by Wendy Moniz) will also return as series regulars.

The season will also feature a few newcomers. Fans of American Horror Story may recognize Kai Caster, Lainey Wilson, Lilli Kay, and Dawn Olivieri, who played James Dutton’s sister Claire in 1883, as characters in Yellowstone. Dawn Olivieri, best known to Taylor Sheridan fans as James Dutton’s sister Claire in 1883, will play the corporate shark, Sarah Atwood.

Jen Landon, who plays Teeter, and Kathryn Kelly, who plays Jimmy’s new fiancée Emily, have already been revealed as series regulars for the upcoming season as part of the show’s official announcement. Jefferson White, who portrays Jimmy on the program, has also announced that he will be returning, putting an end to prior rumors that he would be going to the spin-off series 6666.

Kevin Costner, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, Kelsey Asbille, Brecken Merrill, Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Finn Little, Ryan Bingham, and Gil Birmingham have all been confirmed to return for Yellowstone’s upcoming fifth season, in addition to newcomer Betty White.

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan has already begun to expand the canon of the program on Paramount+ in addition to the fifth season. There will also be a prequel featuring Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, and Sam Elliott called 1883, as well as a prequel set in the Great Depression called 1932, which stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford. 6666, a spinoff project now in development, has also been signed on by Sheridan.

It’s slated to premiere on Paramount+ like 1883 and the rest of Sheridan’s nine (yes, nine) forthcoming movies for Paramount, but no date has yet been set. No ranch in America has a deeper connection to the West’s past than the 6666, which was established when the Comanches ruled West Texas. The 6666 is a place where the rule of law and the laws of nature meet in a place where the most dangerous thing one can do is the next thing one does… This is where world-class cowboys are born and raised, and where the best horses and livestock in the world are raised to their full potential.
