Cruel Summer Season 2: All We Need to Know!
“It’s a terrible summer,” as the great Taylor Swift says, and that’s precisely what we’ll be singing when the Freeform popular series returns. Cruel Summer left us all wondering who to believe in its chaotic she-said/she-said story as Kate and Jeanette revealed their perspectives.
The biggest surprise isn’t even the ending—it’s the fact that we won’t be seeing any more of Skylin’s most famous kids when the program returns for season 2. So, what additional changes are on the way for the series? Here’s all you need to know about the second season of Cruel Summer.
Wait, we won’t get to see what happens to Kate and Jeanette next? Nope. By being an anthology series, the series is emulating American Horror Story. This isn’t too surprising given that it was mentioned that it would go in a different way prior. Still, it wasn’t formally announced until April 2022, and we’re still saddened that we won’t get to see more of Skylin.
What Will The Second Season Of Cruel Summer Be About?
Season 2 will be set in the year 2000, according to the Hollywood Reporter. “Set in a picturesque seaside village in the Pacific Northwest, season 2 of the anthology examines the rise and breakdown of a strong adolescent connection.
Approaching the story from three separate timelines surrounding Y2K, the season twists and turns as it follows Megan, Isabella, and Megan’s best friend Luke’s early friendship, the love triangle that evolved, and the mystery that would touch all of their lives in the future. Season 2 will premiere at a later point this year.”

Along with the huge revelation of the new season, Freeform also revealed the new season 2 stars. Sadie Stanley, who played Kim Possible in the live-action film, will play Megan, “a computer coder and honor student from a blue-collar household. Megan begins to live in the moment and embrace her true self after meeting Isabella. Her long-held hopes are destroyed when events take a devastating turn, and she is left wondering who she can trust.”
Eloise Payet, a newcomer, will play Isabella, the beautiful and enigmatic daughter of foreign diplomats who is spending a year as an exchange student with the Landry family. She swiftly disrupts life in this small town, but her charm cannot conceal the truth about her history or the true reason she came to live with the Landrys for the rest of her life.”
Griffin Gluck plays Luke Chambers, “Megan’s longstanding best friend from a prominent family,” in Locke and Key. Over time, Luke finds himself at a crossroads as he attempts to carve out his own position in the world apart from his strong father’s expectations.” Kadee Strickland (Private Practice), Lisa Yamada (All American), Sean Blakemore (Greenleaf), and Paul Adelstein are among the newly confirmed cast members (True Story).
When Will Cruel Summer Season 2 Be Released?
The next season’s production has just begun, so it will be some time before we see it on our TVs. But we’re crossing our fingers that Cruel Summer will return soon…perhaps as soon as fall 2022 or early winter 2022.
