As Steve Miller’s bandmate in The Ardells and then the Steve Miller Band, Boz Scaggs got his start in music. However, he didn’t start a solo career until 1969. His album “Silk Degrees,” released in 1976, was a huge hit.

“Silk Degrees,” which included hit songs like “Lido Shuffle” and “Lowdown,” shot to the number two spot on the Billboard 200 chart. This success established Boz Scaggs as a major musical force and opened the door for two more platinum-certified albums, “Down Two Then Left” and “Middle Man.”

Boz Scaggs took a break in the 1980s and returned triumphantly in 1988, recording and touring once again. He not only made an impact on the music industry, but he also demonstrated his talent-spotting abilities by helping to launch the band Toto.

Dominique Gioia married Boz Scaggs in 1992. They traveled to Napa Valley four years later and planted 2.2 acres of grape types, including Counoise, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Grenache. They made their first wine in 2000, and in 2006 Scaggs Vineyard received its organic accreditation. But Boz Scaggs decided to sell his plot to Newfound Wines in 2016.
