Phase 5 will begin with Ant-Man 3 – titled Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania – and we’ve already learned a few story details.
At Marvel’s massive Comic-Con 2022 panel, an exclusive trailer was shown to those in attendance. Hopefully, the rest of us may see it soon.
Ant-Man 3 was originally scheduled for July 2023 but was moved to February 2023 after The Marvels was pushed back. With the new release date, Marvel must be certain that the filming is finished and ready to go.
For the third film, it seems like Evangeline Lilly has big expectations. “I was blown away by the script [by Jeff Loveness],” she said. “I think it has the potential to be the best one yet.”
What are the chances that the film will live up to such high hopes? This remains to be seen, but Kang the Conqueror confirmed as the main antagonist of The Multiverse Saga, will undoubtedly play a key role.

Ant-Man 3 Release Date
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will open in theatres on February 17, 2023, following a few schedule shuffles.
Lilly admitted to Digital Spy that this was the most difficult shoot she has ever done because of all the constraints.
According to her, “there were just conditions and practicalities, as well as the status of the globe – you know, everything – made the shoot more difficult than any of the ones we’ve done so far.”
“However, I have high hopes that it will be the finest of the three, albeit I have no idea why. As much as I’d like to, I just can’t. It has the potential to be incredibly cool, in my opinion.”

Ant-Man 3 Cast
This time around, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly have returned as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne in Ant-Man and the Wasp respectively.
In addition to Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer, who will reprise their roles as Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie will also return, but she will not be played by Emma Fuhrmann, who previously appeared in the film Avengers: Endgame.
This time, Big Little Lies and The Society actress Kathryn Newton will play Cassie Lang in the third installment.
Newt appears to have confirmed the MCU’s vision of a superhero future for Cassie, based on her appearance in Stature in the comic books.
She teased, “I’m going to give it my all to be the best superhero ever.”

Fuhrmann appeared to be unfazed by the announcement that her Endgame part would be recast for the third Ant-Man movie in December 2020, thanking fans for their “warm sentiments.”

Majors has clarified that the two personas are distinct, in case you were still unsure. “There is no He Who Remains in Ant-Man. Kang has arrived.”
The only other confirmed cast member for the threequel is Bill Murray, but all we know about his character is that he’s a bad guy.
It was confirmed in the Comic-Con teaser that MODOK will be a character in the forthcoming film. We don’t know who is voicing him yet, but we guess it isn’t Patton Oswalt, who voices the cartoon version.
That’s all we know for now, and unless David Dastmalchian and Judy Greer are keeping their mouths shut, we don’t expect them to reprise their roles as Kurt and Scott’s ex-wives Maggie in the new film.
If Greer isn’t returning, Bobby Cannavale’s uncertainty about returning as Maggie’s new husband Jim Paxton makes perfect sense. In November 2020, he claimed he wasn’t sure if he’d return.
At the time of the WandaVision filming, Randall Park, who played Agent Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and The Wasp, said that as of February 2021, he still hadn’t “received the call” for Ant-Man 3. He did add, however, that he would return if requested.
Tip ‘TI’ Harris, who played Scott’s pal Dave on the show, will not be returning.
Many people have come out with charges of sexual abuse against him and his wife Tiny, according to the New York Times, but it’s still unclear if this is connected to the Ant-Man 3 decision or not.
Aside from these charges, the pair is also accused of kidnapping and false imprisonment as well as assault, harassment, and intimidation, as well as the ingestion of illegal drugs without their will.

Ant-Man 3 Plot
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s first synopsis was released following Marvel’s Comic-Con event. “Ant-Man and the Wasp’s Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne return to resume their adventures,” it reads.
As Hope’s parents Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne lead the family on an expedition through quantum space, they encounter bizarre new animals and push themselves to their physical and mental limitations.
Due to the movie’s title, we already knew that it was going to take place in the Quantum Realm. As for how Kang will fit into that, we’ll just have to wait and see what the official poster has to say.

Ant-Man and the Wasp had an Easter egg indicating Kang’s arrival when Chronopolis (the metropolis he lords over in the comics) was seen lurking in the Quantum Realm.
After mentioning Cassie Lang, we may see the beginning of Cassie becoming Stature, a Young Avengers member, in the upcoming threequel.
That doesn’t mean we won’t see the return of Sonny Burch as he seeks his retribution, just because Kang is in the movie. However, may the sequel have also revealed a future villain in plain sight??
Elias Starr was revealed to be Ghost’s father as part of her history. A quantum experiment that resulted in Ghost’s current state presumably killed him, but it doesn’t preclude a return.
Egghead
Ant-Man and the Wasp didn’t require actor Michael Cerveris to wear a pointed prosthetic headgear for the role of ‘Egghead’, a criminal genius in the comics known as Elihas Starr.
We don’t expect to see Egghead in Ant-Man 3, as the world of the MCU has changed considerably since Avengers: Endgame. Instead, we expect the third installment to turn to the future (hello, Young Avengers) rather than the past.
However, you never know unless you try.
It’s not clear what else we may expect from the third film, other than the fact that Scott and Hope will continue to co-lead.
According to Reed, they are a team and she is an integral component of it. As it was the first Marvel film with a female hero in the title, Joss Whedon said, “That was incredibly satisfying.”
The missing Pym Particles from the first film may finally be solved, as well as the fate of Ghost following the events of Ghostbusters II.
