Sienna Weir, a finalist for Miss Universe Australia, passed away at 23 due to a horseback riding accident, her agency Scoop Management announced on Thursday. The business uploaded a video in honor of the model to their Instagram page along with the caption “Forever in our hearts.”
Weir spent several weeks in the hospital before having his life support removed. According to E News, her horse fell on April 2 at the Windsor Polo Grounds in Sydney. Weir, who graduated from Sydney University with a dual degree in English literature and psychology, previously said in an interview with Gold Coast Magazine that she had a “deep and unmoving love for show jumping.”
Weir said in September, “My family isn’t quite sure where this enthusiasm comes from, but I’ve been riding horses since I was three years old and can’t image my life without it. Every other weekend, I compete across New South Wales or the rest of Australia and commute two to three times a week to rural Sydney to train.

Australian photographer Chris Dwyer, who frequently collaborated with the beauty queen, posted a tribute to her on Instagram. He added, “You were one of the kindest souls in the world, you lit up the room, and the world is a lot darker now that you are gone,” beside a picture of Sienna. “I hope you’re being the gremlin we all know and love wherever you are. Already, I miss you so terribly,” he continued.
