Is Runway 34 Based On A True Story?
It is based on the true story of a blind landing that happened on August 18, 2015. Jet Airways flight 9W 555 from Doha to Kochi arrived on time at 6 in the morning. But because there had been a lot of rain the night before, the weather was not in the pilot’s favor. Lack of visibility made it impossible for the pilot to land at Kochi airport after three attempts. The pilot decided to change the flight’s destination to Trivandrum. The flight was a Boeing 737-800, and after it tried to land at Trivandrum Airport, it lost too much fuel and the plane could only fly for 10 minutes. The pilot called May Day and did a successful blind landing on the seventh try with 150 people on board. This was the plane’s seventh try.
