Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max Release Date & More Details!
The new generation of iPhones, set to debut in September, will soon be unveiled on stage by Apple CEO Tim Cook and other top executives. In keeping with its ultra-luxurious reputation, widespread speculation has surrounded the highly anticipated iPhone 14 and its expected release on September 13.
What exactly have we heard, then?
Several things, including the end of production for the iPhone mini and the introduction of a new size category (an affordable iPhone Max), a radical redesign in which a punch hole cutout replaces the infamous notch, and improved processing power in the high-end iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, and, unfortunately, a price increase.
Moreover, Apple will deliver all of this in early September of 2022.
Come on, then, and we’ll start in.

Apple iPhone 14 Release Date
Recent speculations from iDropNews suggest that Apple will introduce the iPhone 14 series on September 13, 2022, and that it will hit store shelves on September 23, 2022. Despite this, fresh rumours from @MaxWinebach suggest that the iPhone 14-series will be announced on September 6 and made available worldwide on September 16.
This is owing to the company’s annual preference for and adherence to certain timeframes: Apple often announces new iPhones on the first or second Tuesday of September, with the devices being made available to the public around 10 days later, on a Friday. Both of the rumoured announcement/release dates also follow that pattern, so mark your calendars accordingly.
Traditionally, Apple CEO Tim Cook and other key executives take the stage at 10 am Pacific Time (6 pm GMT) at Apple Park, the company’s headquarters in Cupertino, to announce the new iPhones. We anticipate that the iPhone 14 unveiling will take place only online, just like WWDC’22.
Listed below is Apple’s iPhone release schedule, covering the years 2018 through 2022, with the iPhone 14’s anticipated release date highlighted in bold.

iPhone 14 Price
Speculation is that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will cost more than their forerunners. Multiple causes, including the rising cost of components and the display in particular as well as supply chain inflation as a whole, have contributed to the expected price increase.
CCS Insight’s Ben Wood also claims that Apple is considering raising the price of the iPhone 14 by $100 to account for rising inflation, but that the company may eventually opt against doing so. Possibly only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will get a price increase from Apple.
Another recent report, however, suggests that Apple will keep the iPhone 14’s price the same as the iPhone 13’s, which is wonderful news.
Reports indicate that Apple is giving serious thought to implementing the price increase, particularly in markets outside of the United States. Assuming this scenario plays out, Apple’s 2022 product selection might have the following pricing points:
iPhone model | 128GB of storage | 256GB of storage | 512GB of storage | 1TB of storage |
---|---|---|---|---|
iPhone 13 mini | $699 | $799 | $999 | – |
iPhone 13 | $799 | $899 | $1099 | – |
iPhone 13 Pro | $999 | $1099 | $1299 | $1499 |
iPhone 13 Pro Max | $1099 | $1199 | $1399 | $1599 |
iPhone 14 | $799-$899* | $899-$999* | $999-$1099* | – |
iPhone 14 Max | $899-$999* | $999-$1099* | $1099-$1199* | – |
iPhone 14 Pro | $1099-$1199* | $1199-$1299* | $1399-$1499* | $1599-$1699* |
iPhone 14 Pro Max | $1199-$1299* | $1299-$1399* | $1499-$1599* | $1699-$1799* |
It’s worth noting that if the predicted major camera redesign materialises, the price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max might increase even more. No major price increase is anticipated for the non-Pro models, and any such increase would likely be felt most keenly by the Pro series.
iPhone 14 Name
Apple is working on four new gadgets for 2022 and will likely discontinue the iPhone mini-series thereafter. The new huge and reasonably priced iPhone may be called the iPhone 14 Max or, as other reports have it, the iPhone 14 Plus, reviving the moniker Apple gave to its original 5.5-inch iPhone in 2014.
The rumoured iPhone 14 lineup is as follows:
- iPhone 14 6.1″ — the base iPhone, a logical continuation of the iPhone 11, 12, and 13
- NEW! iPhone 14 Max (Plus) 6.7″ — a larger version of the iPhone 14 with dual cameras and a bigger battery
- iPhone 14 Pro 6.1″ — the triple-camera iPhone 14 with all the bells and whistles in a manageable size
- iPhone 14 Pro Max 6.7″ — the largest version of the 14 Pro with premium features and longer battery life
Apple iPhone 14 Camera
Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple insider, has stated that the company is working on a major update to the iPhone camera for the iPhone 14 line. One notable change is that Apple is expected to have a big 1/1.3-inch 48MP sensor for the primary camera. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, two of Apple’s highest-end devices, are said to use this sensor.
The main wide-angle camera would benefit the most from the bigger sensor, however, the better camera tech would likely trickle down to the ultra-wide and telephoto cameras in later iPhones down the line. Naturally, the professional versions are always going to be ahead.
Ming-Chi Kuo speculates that the next-generation iPhone will be able to simultaneously produce 48MP and 12MP (four cells merging output mode) images. Compared to the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, as well as to current Android phones, the new 2H22 iPhone’s CIS pixel size improves to around 2.5um thanks to its 12MP output, putting it close to the DSC threshold.
As far as we know, this would be the largest camera sensor Apple has ever included in an iPhone. It should have excellent low-light image quality thanks to quad pixel-binning, complementing the iPhone 14’s Night mode nicely. Sony appears to be the supplier for the iPhone 14’s new sensors, while LG is responsible for manufacturing the camera modules.
As a bonus, the upgraded sensor should make it possible to record 8K video with the primary camera. Currently, the highest frame rate an iPhone can record at is 4K at 60 fps. However, experts have indicated that 8K may not arrive until next year.
Even while these new camera features are impressive, they will undoubtedly result in higher prices for Apple’s customers. Only the most expensive iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max models make sense to receive the upgraded camera system first.
However, a new front-facing auto-focusing camera is expected to be included in all four of the iPhone 14 models. This would be a great improvement over previous iPhones because the front-facing camera on those devices was always fixed-focus, limiting the depth of field in your selfies and video chats. Information leaks suggest the new front camera will have a larger f/1.9 aperture than the current f/2.2, allowing more light to enter the camera.
Apple iPhone 14 Design
The 14th generation iPhone: what will it look like? In general, we don’t anticipate any substantial design changes, thus the iPhone 14 series should look very similar to the iPhone 13 series. The notch on the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will be gone, and in its place will be a horizontal I cutout. This is one of the most noticeable changes. While the iPhone 14 and 14 Max will continue to use the same narrow notches debuted with the iPhone 13, they will be smaller.
The speculation that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would have a titanium frame was first reported by JP Morgan Chase. This rumour should be taken with a grain of salt, but it would be a significant departure from the existing use of stainless steel in the Pro versions. For the Apple Watch Series 6 and Series 7, one of the available casing materials is a titanium alloy. While titanium isn’t perfect (it shows fingerprints more easily), Apple is rumoured to be developing new coatings for upcoming iPhone models to address this issue.
The upcoming iPhone 14 series, according to a recent leak, would have thinner bezels all around the screen. Thinner bezels on iPhones have been a trend since the iPhone 12 generation, and they seem to reach their zenith with the iPhone 14 this year. There have been rumours of four different iPhone 14 models since April, with no’mini’ in sight, and now moulds for the next generation of iPhones have leaked.
When it comes to the iPhone 14’s colour options, we anticipate a more subdued palette with a matte finish for the Pro series, while the non-Pro variants are likely to retain their glossy coating.
- Midnight (Black)
- Starlight (White)
- Sky Blue
- Red
- Purple
- Green
Apple debuted a purple colour option for the iPhone 12 roughly six months after the initial launch of that model, and this new option might be a similar, slightly darker shade of that colour.
Colours rumoured for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max:
- Graphite
- Silver
- Gold
- Purple
- Green
Graphite, Silver, and Gold are the three standard colours for the Pro models, with the addition of a brand-new Purple shade. It’s interesting that Apple’s newest colour option for the iPhone 13, “green,” isn’t mentioned anywhere in connection with the iPhone 14. Here, you will be educated on the finer points of the 14 colour options available for the iPhone.
Garry Tonon Shows Off Incredible Physique, Ripped and Ready for ADCC!
Max Weinbach’s Twitter post of schematics for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max gives us an accurate idea of their proportions.
Due to a bigger camera sensor, the camera islands on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are expected to be thicker. As was speculated, the larger camera bump is due to the new 48MP camera that is rumoured to replace the 12MP main sensor. Kuo has stated that the 48MP module will be about 25–35% longer in diagonal than the 12MP camera and that the height of its 7P lens will grow by 5–10% when compared to the primary unit on the iPhone 13 Pro.
Furthermore, as we’ve already observed, this might be the first iPhone since the iPhone X’s release in 2017 to lack a notch. An optional side-mounted Face ID dot projector could allow the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14, Pro Max, to adopt a floaty oval cutout. The display will enclose the dot illuminator for Face ID, making it nearly invisible, so that all you’ll be able to see is the cutout for the camera used for taking selfies. We may expect Apple’s iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max to keep the narrower notch seen with the iPhone 13.
According to another theory, the SIM card slot could be removed entirely. Dual eSIMs may replace physical SIM card slots, but even if that happens, the iPhone 14 with a physical SIM card slot will still be marketed in places where the eSIM standard hasn’t been implemented. Leaks from Apple insider ShrimpApplePro suggest that the iPhone 14 will have a physical SIM card tray, but it’s not out of the question that Apple may also offer iPhone 14 variants that are eSIM-only.
Concerning biometrics, the iPhone 14 series is highly unlikely to feature Touch ID integrated into the display. Face ID appears to be Apple’s primary biometric option with the iPhone 14.
Apple iPhone 14 Display
Specifically, the 6.1″ and 6.7″ ProMotion displays with variable refresh rates are believed to be included in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, respectively. Yes, at this time we anticipate that only the Pro models will include 120Hz refresh rate screens, while the cheaper non-Pro devices will just feature your typical 60Hz OLED displays. That’s consistent with the 13-series iPhones we’ve seen.
These are the dimensions and capabilities of the screens of the iPhone 14 series:
- 6.1″ iPhone 14 with 60Hz ‘slim’ notch display
- 6.7″ iPhone 14 Max with 60HZ ‘slim’ notch display
- 6.12″ iPhone 14 Pro with 120Hz i-shaped punch-hole display, Always-on Display
- 6.69″ iPhone 14 Pro Max with 120Hz i-shaped punch-hole display, Always-on Display
Always-on displays could be another manner in which the Pro models differentiate themselves from the standard iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max. The rumour mill suggests that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have always-on displays that constantly update with relevant data. The Apple Watch already has this capability, so it only makes it reasonable that the iPhone would get it next. Faster refresh rate switching is made possible by LTPO OLED panels, which are responsible for this functionality.
In addition, numerous lines of code in iOS 16 supposedly indicate that the iPhone 14 will have an always-on display, suggesting that this enhancement will be released this fall. It has been speculated that the always-on clock and the user’s choice of widgets that may be placed atop the lock screen in iOS 16 will be featured prominently on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Apple may soon release wallpapers for its always-on function, as hints have appeared in the most recent version of iOS 16. As of recently, the native wallpapers have a Sleep option that includes fade effects. This seems to suggest that a muted version of wallpapers will be available in the always-on mode, making it possible to view glanceable information even while your smartphone is locked and saving power.
The Lock Screen interface in the beta version of Xcode 14 clears out widget data when the screen wakes up, suggesting that critical information will be hidden from the Lock Screen when the always-on option is used and widget colours become opaque.
Apple iPhone 14 Specs and Hardware
Any word on the iPhone 14’s features? Even in 2022, we should expect Apple to continue yearly updates to the Bionic chipset family, with each new generation being quicker than the last.
We don’t yet know what technologies Apple’s new A16 Bionic chip will be based on. Some speculation points to an improvement from the present 5nm technology to either 4nm or 3nm architecture. It’s expected that this will increase overall performance and decrease power consumption. However, many point to the worldwide shortage of semiconductors and believe that plans have been delayed, meaning that 5nm technology could still be used in the A16. We wouldn’t be so quick to write off the iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max just yet, even though it lags behind the strongest Android competitors, who have already hopped on the 4nm hype train.
Indeed, TSMC’s manufacturing timetable suggests we may witness gains of up to 15% in performance, 30% in power savings, and 70% in logic density compared to the present 5nm technology (in ideal conditions).
The new and quite likely development is that Apple will only equip the iPhone 14 Pro and the Pro Max with the state-of-the-art A16 chip, while the standard iPhone 14 will continue to use the older A15 Bionic. Even though the base iPhone 14 model may use the same Apple A15 chip as the iPhone 13, numerous additional hardware upgrades may guarantee that it still has higher overall performance than the iPhone 13.
The Pros are predicted to have 8GB of RAM on board, making them the first iPhones capable of running multiple applications simultaneously. Currently, the RAM capacities of the 13 Pro models are 6GB while those of the non-Pro devices are 4GB. One latest rumour, however, claims that all iPhone 14 models will feature at least 6GB of fast RAM, with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max including LPDDR4X RAM and the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max featuring the faster LPDDR5 RAM. The latter could work well with Apple’s A16 Bionic chipset, making premium iPhones even more superior to flagship Android devices.
Like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, the iPhone 14 will have support for 5G networks. Reports suggest that TSMC has surpassed Samsung to become the exclusive supplier of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X65 5G chips for the iPhone 14 series. The 5G chips produced by TSMC are anticipated to be the result of the company’s adoption of a 6nm manufacturing process, making them smaller and more power-efficient in the sub-6GHz and mmWave 5G bands. The smaller chip would allow for a larger battery, which is reported to be included in the iPhones. TSMC is also expected to introduce some other goodies, like Wi-Fi 6E, which has higher bandwidth and lower latency compared to ordinary Wi-Fi 6.
However, Apple is widely anticipated to break ties with Qualcomm and debut its own 5G processor beginning with the iPhone 15.
Apple iPhone 14 Software

Apple iPhone 14 Battery and Charging
According to the most recent speculations, all of the batteries in the iPhone 14 will be larger than their predecessors except the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which will have a little smaller battery.
The iPhone 14 is expected to feature a 3,279mAh battery, which is around the same as the battery in the iPhone 13, while the iPhone 14 Pro is expected to use a 3,200mAh battery cell, which is an increase of 105mAh over the battery in the iPhone 13 Pro.
There have been rumours that the iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a 4,323mAh battery, which is about 30mAh less than the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Last but not least, the all-new iPhone 14 Max is speculated to feature the largest battery in an iPhone at 4,325mAh.
hone | Battery size |
---|---|
iPhone 14 | 3,279mAh (vs 3,227mAh on iPhone 13) |
iPhone 14 Max | 4,325mAh |
iPhone 14 Pro | 3,200mAh (vs 3,095mAh on iPhone 13 Pro) |
iPhone 14 Pro Max | 4,323mAh (vs 4,352mAh on iPhone 13 Pro Max) |
There’s no doubt that we’ll be sticking with the same 20W wired charging option (albeit the iPhone 13 Pro Max may unofficially receive a 27W charge for a speedier top-off), however, it’s unclear whether Apple will increase official charging speeds this year.
We may safely assume that the iPhone 14 will ship with the tried-and-true Lightning port rather than a USB Type-C port. Thanks to a new EU law that Apple must follow, the arrival of the fabled USB-C iPhone is likely to occur sometime between 2023 and then. Apple will have to abide by the law if it wants to sell iPhones in the European Union (EU), and we don’t expect Apple to make two distinct iPhone models, one with Lighting and another with USB Type-C. Nonetheless, Apple will undoubtedly include a Lightning port with the iPhone 14.
Wireless charging through MagSafe is included in all four of the iPhone 14. Reverse wireless charging is present in several Android competitors, although it is unknown if this series will support this. We don’t know for sure, but it’s possible, and it may be exclusive to iPhone Pro models.
