On Wednesday, days after four family member kidnaped in California at gunpoint, their bodies were found in a rural farm area. During a press conference on Wednesday night, Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke said, “Tonight, our worst concerns have been fulfilled.” What happened here is horrible and makes no sense at all. Eight-month-old Aroohi Dheri’s body was discovered in the same general region as her parents, Jasleen Kaur and Jasdeep Singh, and her uncle, Amandeep Singh, according to Warnke. He claimed the police were called to the scene on Wednesday afternoon.
On Monday, investigators say a man armed with a gun grabbed the family and forced them into a truck; they haven’t been seen since. A man police are looking at as a “person of interest” has been arrested. The individual is cooperating with police, but the sheriff said they still don’t know what motivated him. Family members had been appealing to the public for help finding the bodies before their discovery.
Sukhdeep Singh, the brother of one of the fatalities, told reporters on Wednesday, “Every business, petrol station, anybody who has cameras please verify the cameras.” Immediately, the support of the general population is essential. If you can aid us, my family will be able to return home safely. Balvinder, an unnamed relative, has indicated that the family has lived in the neighborhood for a long time, owns a small business, and is known for its “peace-loving” nature.
“We are heartbroken. We can’t believe it. We are losing our lives every second without any leads,” Balvinder stated. Warnke stated the detained individual had a 2005 conviction for armed robbery and wrongful imprisonment. This individual was granted parole in 2015. According to Warnke, the suspect in the earlier crime was known to the victims and acted alone. Though “we don’t have any proof to substantiate it,” Warnke believes at least one other individual participated in the kidnapping.
A video of Jasdeep and Amandeep Singh’s nine-minute time difference in arriving at the family trucking firm was aired during a news conference earlier on Wednesday. Monday morning, just before 9 o’clock, Jasdeep saw a man outside the store who was carrying a garbage bag and then produced what looked like a gun. The gunman is then seen leading Jasdeep and Amandeep, both with their hands tied behind their backs, into the back of a truck, which drives away and then returns six minutes later. The assailant then re-enters the shop and is seen leading Jasleen, who is pregnant with Aroohi, to the waiting truck.
According to investigators, a farmer discovered two victims’ cellphones on a road Monday. In one instance, the farmer picked up the phone and had a conversation with a loved one of the victims.

As a result of his violent behaviour at the hospital, the person of interest who attempted suicide was sedated. The District Attorney’s office reports that no charges have been brought. CNN will not reveal the identity of the suspect. At 11:39 a.m. on Monday, the California Highway Patrol responded to a burning 2020 Dodge Ram and requested assistance from the Merced Police Department in locating the owner of the car, as reported by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office. At 12:35 p.m., Merced police officers showed up at the truck owner’s home to speak with a relative. Police attempted to get in touch with the family but were unsuccessful.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Department was called to a business on South Highway 59 at 1:04 p.m. on Monday. The sheriff’s office said Tuesday that “detectives determined that the people were kidnapped” during the initial inquiry. Deputy Alexandra Britton, the sheriff’s office’s public relations officer, said that a firearm and handcuffs were used during the kidnapping. The sheriff’s office in Merced, between Modesto and Fresno in central California, released an initial statement about the case on Monday, saying they believed the family was kidnapped “against their will” from a shop in the 800 block of South Highway 59.
“There is no need for it on our part,” Warnke claimed as much in a video statement he shared on Facebook. Warnke also stated that evidence was gathered by investigators showing that “the individuals involved in this destroyed evidence in an attempt to disguise their tracks.” On Tuesday, a 48-year-old man was arrested as a suspect in the case. According to Britton, the man’s relatives had phoned police and revealed that he had confessed to his role in the abduction. When his family called the police, they were able to get in touch with him. The Merced County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to ask that anyone with information about this case then call them. In addition to the California Department of Justice and the FBI, they have opened a probe.
ATM card used after the disappearance of Victim
A victim’s ATM card was used in Atwater, California, on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office stated. Atwater is near Merced. Britton said it’s unknown if the 48-year-old in jail used the card. Investigators later identified the 48-year-old guy as a person of interest and arrested him, police said. The man tried to kill himself before police intervened and were in critical condition Tuesday. CNN’s Alexandra Britton said authorities are attempting to confirm the man in custody is the same suspect pictured Monday. Investigators received a surveillance photo of a person conducting a bank transaction who resembles the kidnapping suspect. The suspect had a shaved head and was last seen wearing a hooded hoodie, investigators said Monday. Officials called him armed and dangerous.
