Avatar the Last Airbender Tattoo: You Really Ought to View

These Avatars: The Last Airbender tattoos are the ultimate expression of fandom and show how much dedication these fans have to the franchise.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is a hugely popular tattoo franchise because it features many instantly recognizable characters and visual motifs. Moreover, being one of the most popular animated shows of the 2000s, fans can’t wait to have permanent reminders of their devotion to the program by having tattoos made of their favorite characters, quotes, and images.

Hundreds of magnificent, creative, and charming Avatar: The Last Airbender tattoos exist. Though there were plenty from which to select, we ultimately settled on 10 top picks.

10/10 Carpaccio of Koi

In the Kingdom of the Northern Water Tribe, Sokka meets and falls in love with Princess Yue in one of the most breathtaking and heartbreaking moments in the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender. When one of two entwined koi fish representing the Moon Spirit is slain during the siege by the Fire Nation, all of the Waterbenders lose their abilities. Because she loves her people and all Waterbenders, Yue gives up the life the Moon Spirit gave her to merge with it and swim all the time. Caleb Lynch got this tattoo to commemorate that act’s selflessness and the setting’s grace.

9/10 Dedicated Follower of Aang

Aang can control the air around him since he is an Airbender. He can use it to propel himself through the air by conjuring up winds underneath the fan he rides, and he also employs this fan as a weapon to amplify the strength of the air he manipulates.

Only diehard Avatar fans would appreciate this minimalist tattoo by Julia C. Burns. It’s a subtle nod to our favorite Airbender and all the things he can accomplish because of its simplicity and the fact that Aang doesn’t appear with the fan.

8/10 Four Countries

The abundance of Avatar-related memes has ensured that its opening is ingrained in our collective consciousness. However, the series’ most crucial contribution is its description of our four countries (Fire, Water, Earth, and Air). The central theme of the Avatar series is the interplay between the four elements and what Aang represents to the people as the only person who can bend the four elements, Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Tina Dimino’s beautiful watercolor depictions of the emblems of the four countries are moving reminders of that peace. 7/10 Ernie, Your Uncle Iroh

When asked who their favorite Avatar character is, almost everyone will say Uncle Iroh. He doesn’t appear to have any political affiliations or goals beyond safeguarding his beloved nephew. He always seems unfazed and ready to lend a helping hand to others around him.

Angela Emr has done an excellent job paying respect to the uncle we’ve all come to know with this beautiful, detailed image of Uncle Iroh and the tea he’s always seen with him. To that, we must add the koi fish of the Northern Water Tribe, where Iroh betrayed his people to provide our heroes with the knowledge they needed to save the day.

6/10 Toph

Toph of the Earth Tribe is our favorite tough girl. Despite her blindness, she is the most potent Earthbender in the world, capable of feats that have never been accomplished before. Not only that, but she takes on the arduous task of instructing Aang in Earthbending so that he may go on to save the world. A beautiful homage to the strong child we all adore, this full-arm tattoo of Toph was done by Russell Van Shaick. Because of the bright colors and rough linework, this seems like it was taken directly from a manga. Read more: Shania Twain’s crystal-embellished dress recreates a fashion moment

5/10 A World Transformed into an Imaginary Character

When Aang is in the avatar state, he is so strong that he almost loses control of himself and can easily employ all of his abilities since he cannot be reborn if he is slain while in the avatar state. This is also his most defenseless condition.

In light of this, a tattoo featuring him in this location was required. One of Elaina Conroy’s best is this one right here. The lack of detail on Aang’s face and torso emphasizes the drama around him, and the use of dotwork instead of a more conventional tattoo style adds to the surreal quality of the piece.

4/10 Spirt Blue

We appreciate its understated elegance just as much as Aang’s admirer does. The mask of the Blue Spirit is instantly recognizable to any Avatar fan, but even to those who aren’t familiar with the franchise, it makes for a fantastic tattoo. Incorporating the mask’s strong Asian aesthetic while also alluding to tiki masks, this version by Rat Barse is impressive. This tattoo is genuinely one-of-a-kind because of the fantastic contrast between the blue of the show and the orange and red fire.

3/10 (Aang’s Arrow)

This tattoo from Tattoo Wonderland is incredible on many levels since it features many iconic images from the movie Avatar. It’s enormous, which blows our minds since it demonstrates that the fan wants everyone to know how much they care.

The arrows that have become Aang’s trademark are shown in black ink across Aang’s arms, legs, and even his skull. The indicator is segmented by the four national symbols—earth, water, fire, and wind—to clarify its meaning.

2/10 Appa

The name of our beloved flying bison, Appa, must be included on any list of our favorite tattoos. Stunning in its accuracy, Tiggy’s tattoo of Appa is a work of art. The attention to detail is just proper for us to recognize him, but not so exact that the tattoo stops looking like it was made for this particular individual. The watercolor color blocking is beautiful; it gives the tattoo its identity while being faithful to the Airbenders’ color scheme of orange and blue, which reminds us of Aang even if he isn’t shown in the tattoo. 1/10 A Knuckle Sandwich for Four Countries

This tattoo is another example of the artistry of Russell Van Schaick, who previously performed the stunning Toph tattoo up top. This fresh new tattoo has simplified renditions of the symbol of the four nations, and it still looks great after being touched up with medication in this photo. This is a little and delicate tattoo, so it’s great to see the careful black linework that doesn’t stray from the lines. The fact that they are located on the knuckles gives the impression that the wearer is willing to go to war for their love of Avatar, which is a fantastic idea in our books.
