Hogan was engaged to Phil Costa, who had played center for the Dallas Cowboys. The engagement ended in November 2013.  An audio recording (and its transcripts) of her father Hulk Hogan allegedly making comments about her and her choice of companionship in 2006 became the center of controversy in 2015, which ultimately led to the termination of his contract with the WWE.

The comments were allegedly made by Hulk Hogan. In his comments, Hulk Hogan defined himself as his daughter’s “dream husband” and said that he would bestow “Hulkamania” onto whoever married his daughter. In retaliation, she composed a poem defending him and submitted it.

Brooke Hogan Career

In 2002, Trans Continental Records made a deal with Hogan. Rich Cronin, a member of LFO, helped develop some of the music. The album’s debut song, “Everything to Me,” was released in July 2004. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song peaked at position #97, although it was a top-seller on the Hot 100 Singles Sales list.

From the middle of 2004 until the beginning of 2005, Hogan went on tour with both Hilary Duff and the Backstreet Boys to promote the album.  The album, titled Brooke Hogan: This Voice, was supposed to be released on September 21, 2004.

In the hour-long profile, both Hogan and her father made an appearance (Inside) No more Hulk Hogan or Stage Dad. The TV special followed Hogan while she recorded her first album and highlighted her father’s participation. Her dad later revealed that the whole purpose of the show was to drum up publicity for his daughter’s nascent singing career.

Following the success of the special, VH1 decided to adapt it into an ongoing series, also titled Hogan Knows Best. When it began in July 2005, the show quickly became the network’s most successful series ever.  This show followed the Hogan family as a whole, however, it was mostly interested in the relationship between Brooke and her dad.

Her father was shown as being overprotective of her in Hogan Knows Best. Hulk was able to monitor Brooke’s whereabouts and remotely turn off her car’s motor thanks to the GPS tracker he installed on her car for the program. However, in a subsequent interview, Brooke mentioned that her father relaxed after she turned eighteen.
